Speaking of events that need support....

I PM'd your CR about this ages ago, but now we're getting down to the wire.
If I can't get at least 4 (preferably 6+) volunteers from the various clubs in the next couple days I'll be forced to cancel this appearance.

    Here are the details:

Garrison Excelsior was invited (and subsequently Rebel Legion & CORE are also invited) to pose for pictures and sign autographs for the Special Olympics athletes as they wait for the Opening Ceremonies to commence. These take place at Binghamton University on Thursday, June 12th. We've been asked to be ready and in costume by 6:30pm and to arrive at least 1 hour prior so that we have time to find our place, get suited up and receive any last minute instructions.

I hope some of you will be able to participate in this event. We had the pleasure of attending the Opening Ceremonies of the Summer Games last year in Albany and it was a great time.

Yes, count me and Allen in.

    That's two of us.

    Dan is free.

I think Bob was free as well and Jeff, I'll double check.

So that's six people right there if my estimations are correct. :)

    Doc Bev,
As I said in a PM earlier, I will get a confirmation of numbers and those attending at my CIVB Party at my house this weekend. ;)

Thanks Bob, unfortunately I couldn't wait until the weekend. [face_worried]
I'm sending out the press release today so I needed to know if I needed to cancel our appearance by today.

Fortunately, with CORE's support I think we can still pull off this event. [:D]

Well, to make things more complicated... (good thing I hadn't sent the press release quite yet!)
I just received an email from the Special Olympics asking us to change our visit from Thursday evening to Saturday.
The visit will likely be from 12pm-2pm-ish.

Is anyone able to do that instead?

Ummm...might be able to make that one. Thursday is preferred for me though.

You may want to PM Bob and let him know the change.

Are they moving opening ceremonies or are they just moving us? And what do they intend for us to do on Saturday? Also, Nope Saturday at that time is never good for me Must be after 1:00 I could be there by 1:30 if I go right from work to the event and get changed.

They're just moving us. Opening Ceremonies will still be on Thursday.
For Saturday, we will be mingling, taking pictures, signing autographs and shaking hands with the athletes in their Olympics Village.
The Olympics Village (or at least the one for the Fall Games last year) had food tents, tents for healthcare organizations, bouncy houses and similar festival type activities for the athletes to enjoy.
The 12pm-2pm time frame is not set in stone. I haven't heard back yet a confirmation on timing.

I was informed that they were going for more of a sports type of environment for the Olympic village and not a carnival atmosphere like in years past? And that we might not be what they were looking for .. And the person whom told me this works in the office that books the entertainment. Any truth to the rumor?

    Not that I'm aware of.
You've been talking to someone at the Special Olympics?

Due to many time constraints and scheduling conflicts, the Binghamton FanForce will be unable to attend this event. But please keep us in mind for future events.

    Thanks for the invite....

    That's too bad. :(
The Special Olympics events are really rewarding ones to do.

Although a moot point now, I thought I would pass along...
I just received confirmation that the rumors Jeff heard are untrue:
