Our first hypothetical would be the example: Thicker Skins

If you're confused, read the thread linked, it's pretty...ironic? (I admit I may not be fully versed in irony, but still...lol, in any case.)

Mods telling JCCers to get thicker skins because of insults of those in WNU. I'll admit I think the whole thing might throw us into some kind of TF.n JC vortex of some other dimension, but that's because the I've been in here too long.

What is this whole thing going on between the JCC and WNU?

 

Apparently something to do with bears and kittens, and pillow fights. Oh, and birds.

Okay, well, I'll be serious for a second. The WNU said the JCC is mean, then the JCC went to Comms and said the WNU were saying mean things, and the Mods told the JCC to get a thicker skin. Or something like that.

 

That's it? A name calling game?

 

Geez, I think everybody's overreacting. I have yet to visit any message board about anything on any site that doesn't experience some sort of animosity between forums. It's normal. It's natural. It's human. And it's not something to lose sleep over. In the end, moderators have to mod in a post by post basis, taking things in context. If you take anything out of contex, it's capable of sounding bad.

 

I don't know if any of you have ever been to sites like 4chan, or other sites where there is little to no moderation, but if you have... you'd think the JCC is Disney.

Having lived through the stupidity of a huge flame war in Fanfic a few years back, I can definitely agree with the policy of people sucking it up and getting thicker skins.

 

I completely missed the flame wars.
