For your reverence of the crown above all (which I agree: HRH > His Excellency Barack Obama, First of His Name).

'Got a sawed off' followed shortly by 'AK-47 is the tool'. Pick a gun and be consistent with your theme Ice Cube.

While that might be true as to the origin, that sentiment has taken a broader meaning in the culture.

Come on man, London is the greatest city on Earth.

I have to say, I hated and still hate the song "stole" by Kelly Rowland. "Life was stole". No, you blithering idiot. Stolen. FFS.

Even taking the movie out of it, because like many people I heard the Sinatra first, I still always took it that way. I never even thought of 'make it anywhere' actually meaning living in New York, usually when people say they've "made it" they mean they've hit the "big time" or at least done what they set out to do. That line doesn't really have that much to do with New York, other than it tends to be a hub of a lot of things.

Shakira going from the lyrics of Poem to a Horse to

    And you touch me
    And I'm like
    And I'm like

Well...she does sometimes sound like a goat when she sings, so I guess that's not too big of a stretch...

In Phil Collins "Son of Man", one of the lyrics of "the power to be strong, and the wisdom to be wise". I'm always like, really? The wisdom to be wise? That's like saying "the knowledge to be intelligent". Actually, now that I say that, "knowledge to be intelligent" STILL makes more sense than "wisdom to be wise". Bleh! [face_sick]

"Might as well go for a soda, nobody hurts and nobody cries
Might as well go for a soda, nobody drowns and nobody dies"

Thats a pretty bold statement there. People die getting sodas all the time. Some of them probably even drown.

"I feel so close to you right now, it's a force field"

That's the whole ****ing song. Calvin Harris does that for 3 minutes. Not to mention his voice is so awful that he sounds like if Anton Chigurh went into the pop music industry.

"It's ironic, I had the brew she had the chronic,
    The Lakers beat the Supersonics"

One of the all-time great songs from that era of hip hop/rap, easily one Cube's finest works... however, despite the spelling in the lyrics, if you listen closely during the actual song, he pronounces the Supersonics as 'Supersonic'. Ahhh! Gets me every single damn time. :p

You don't think that rock bands selling out to corporations would have been something that Billy Joel personally identified with and would have found unbearable in his own life? I don't understand your problem with this line unless you're insisting on divorcing it from the context and the person by which it was written and sung...

I have two Demi Lovato entries:

I just think down/clown is a really lazy rhyme and making a reference to scary clowns kills the mood of the song.

    That escalated quickly.

I almost didn't buy the album because of that song. Thankfully most of the rest of it is enjoyable.

There was a song in the 90s in which someone screeches "I know what you're DOOOOO...INNN and I don't think it's FAAAAAAIIIRRRR" for three minutes straight.

People actually listen to this. Without threat of disembowelment or dismemberment.
