Is ANH powered by guilt trips?

In ANH there are several places where guilt trips are obvious. I don't know if it was part of the 70's writing style, but several places are more obvious than others.

Obi-Wan does it to Luke saying "You will do what you feel is right."

Owen makes some remark to Luke.

Leia makes the remark to Han about his transportation money.

I am sure that there are a few others but I can't remember them all.

Does anyone else feel that Guilt Trips were implied in ANH or in the OT?

You know now that you mention it I seem to think you are onto something. I have thought about Leias comments to Han but Obi-Wans comments to Luke have clearer meanings now.

Luke tries to get Han to fly in the suicidal Battle of Yavin by making him feel guilty.

I don't know if it had anything to do with the trends of the 70's, but I think part of the reason Lucas wrote that way was he conceived of Star Wars as a clear cut good vs. evil story. If it's supposed to be obvious that the Jedi and the Rebellion are good, it's valid to tell people they should support those causes because doing anything else makes them bad.

I'll play devils advocate on this one...

Luke made Han feel guilty, but Han had to pay a huge debit. Most people would split, Han just made a beter decision.

I believe that George Lucas is the one dishing out the guilt trips... perhaps because of his relationship with his own father.

Tarkin also make Leia feel guilty before he blew up Alderan. She felt really guilty after that.
