Is anyone attempting to model the new Ep3 badguy?

well i've emailled my newest renders (4 of them) so they should be up within 24 hours...

the first is just the same head render but with my new textures (only temporary at the moment) and the other three are of the now completed arm (minus shoulder guards)

I know what you mean RS about the whole plastic thing....thats why i was rendering them like that for that sort of feel....but that took sooo long to do for my pc which is why i've progressed rather slowly...

but these new textures still look cool (or cooler in my mind anyway) and its seems closer to how i think the real thing will look...anyways hope you all like my renders that'll be up soon

 

after looking at it for a while i have reworked the head of mine....mainly the shape of the forehead and the eyes.... i also defined the "crease" a little more

i'll leave it till the next update i do to show those ones (and i'll do a plastic type one for you RS)

BTW Robbi I just noticed it was you who did that ep3 model that John Knoll mentioned in that webchat, thats so awesome!

I had my own JK expirence, I was chatting about the webcam at the OS and I said how it looked like Rob Coleman and JK had a cat carrier next to them, then a few seconds later there was a sign on the webcam that said "its not a cat carrier!" LOL

From all the ep3 webdocs it looks like your model was indeed very very accurate of that particular setting, bravo!

I like the neck, and the head looks better. It looks like you've been doing stuff with the materials and they look great.

 

I agree, and you've managed to capture the creepiness in the eyes.

thanx guys.....i was up early this morning (about 8) so i just sat down and got stuck into the body of grevious and I have completed it mostly....hasn't got the hips yet but it has everything else....still haven't done the shoulder guards yet they'll come soon.Its been sent and should be up sometime later.

I need to re-work the 'collar' because at the moment it kinda looks like a toilet and its a fair way off from how it looks on the insider cover. But i do like how the head looks now, its a better shape methinks.

For anyone interested (i know u were fireresq7) I'm using 3dsmax 5.1 for this.

 

Good modelling robo_obi but I preferred him when he wasn't reflective.

looks far better darth_steven, now you both have almost the same. Let's star the body : almost 140 posts and only one (two actually) head. We'll reach 800 posts before you finish it. Ok, robo_obi has started the body, what are you waiting for? Who is going to finish first?

 

Didn't realize it was a race.

 

All I know is we're going to end up with two really awesome Grievous' one way or another. Your new update was very subtle D_S but it really breathed a lot of like into your model.

The eyes are AWESOME now! Even with that slight modification he looks downright scary now. The neck is coming along nicely, I can't imagine what it was like doing all those little details. And the top of the head looks a lot more intricate now as well.

 

Yeah the last two pics looked awesome!!!The 3rd to last looked a little wide. Great job guys!
Man you know GG looks a little like Darth Maul!! Maybe it is him and they were able to save his head!!!

Supposedly thats been debunked, but I'm keeping an open mind, because GL likes to change things as he goes, I wouldn't be at all surprised if that turned out to be Maul's brain under all that hardware.

Also, are either of you planning on releasing the models or creating sequences with them for people when you're done?

 

I hope so. When they're both done someone should animate a big battle between Darth_Steven's Grievous and Robbi's grievous
