I've heard it said several times that Lucas didn't get the Fett adoration - he may have stuck him in there because he thought Fett's fans would get a kick out of it. Maybe from his point of view the appearance in the Special Edition is just as worthwhile as the in the other movies.

There is little chance he'll be in Episode VII - Abrams has said before that fan service is something that filmmakers should avoid and resurrecting him for Episode VII would probably be to complicated an explanation for an already full movie.

Of course it doesn't. It's still there.

But I have to ask: So what? I mean, this means what, exactly? Hand's-off forever because we don't like how a character was once portrayed?

I just don't understand all of this arguing. Especially about the same darn thing, over and over.

I mean, geez, I'm a Fett fan and supporter and even I think he went out with a terrible showing. Will a good movie with a well-written story chock-full of great development which finally makes Fett an interesting, fully fleshed-out character erase ROTJ? No, but it will give us a good SW movie with a well-written story chock-full of great development which finally makes Fett an interesting, fully fleshed-out character.

What could there possibly be to argue about?

I said it before. To take how Fett looked in RotJ and then to make a film that turns him into the super awesome warrior that you wish that he was would be like making a Jar Jar film where he somehow became intelligent, brave and good at combat.

I think there's a lot more to work with with Boba than with Jar Jar. Just not equal in my book.

But I see what what you mean.

I recently met Jeremy Bulloch at a signing in my very ***tty hometown, Strood, Kent, UK (here) and asked him what he thought of the idea of Boba Fett coming back for the sequels. He didn't really give anything away.

Boba was so cool in Empire. Cool, calculated, and all about the cash. And then in Jedi?..well, whatever. And then he became an annoying brat in Clones. The only way IMO his character could get any redemption is a spin off. Featuring him and Cad Bane. And give him an anti hero twist. Not a full on anti hero, but just enough to hint at a different side to him.

He is dead! Let it go...

Would be cool to see some spin off game or series though.

I think Cad Bane is a must in any Boba Fett spin-off. He was an awesome character.

Because little Boba and his Daddy were in the prequels. I actually didn't think I would have to point that out, and the 'unless' I quoted in the post would be of more interest. Anyway, the unless I was alluding to, is the possibility that the original Boba was killed. And his slayer took his armour and the mantle of the infamous Bounty Hunter. Maybe this is something that has happened not just once? No one knows who is actually wearing that armour. That'd be a cool twist on his legend IMO

Most likely the case. Even if Boba did make an appearance another actor could easily be used anyway.

You guys realise the "man with no name angle" was never possible, right?

    Yeah, Temura Morrison.

No point to the movie otherwise.

I would be so down with MVS being old, post digested, cyborg Boba.

The possible picture holding the Vader helmet harkens back to him holding his father's head as well...

It would be interesting if he were one of the good guys in this film... and raising Solo's kid to boot!

If Boba is to appear in the sequel trilogy, I would prefer him be some type of crime lord or space pirate of some sort. A leader to a group of rogues that is taking advantage of the chaos in the galaxy. Honestly, I would like to see a new Fett, preferably one trained by Boba to carry on the legacy. Old man Fett might be a cool idea, but I'd rather see a younger, more dangerous and well trained Fett in the new movies.

Boba Fett is not only dead but easily one of the most overrated characters. He has a cool helmet and a jet pack. Move on.
