Is boss nass a gungan?

Everytime is see that guy i wonder whats up with him not looking like any other gungan in the movies.

His eye are inset into his head, he lacks the longs neck that even a gungan of his weight should have, his mouth is not bill like, heck his whole head is different, not to mentions that i dont see his long droopy ears.

So i know that he is a gungan, well at least i think i do, but why does he look so different??

 

There's two basic varieties of Gungans.

I think GL might be trying to make a subtle point about 'ruling classes'...

He is a Gungan, just one hell of a chunky one

He has head tails. Try looking at him as he walks off from the new General Jar Jar fainting. He has the same bill and eyes, but his blubbery face has really covered up most of them.

 

And . . . he's fuglier than Jabba the Hutt.

 

As Adam said, there are two "races" of Gungans. Jar Jar is an Otolla, and Boss Nass is probably Ankuran.

 

I still say is has to do with JarJar's line of "Boomdegasser, den crashing on da boss's headgiver"...

On the commentary of AOTC someone says that the leaders of the alien races tend to look different than the rest of the population. Notice how Poggle the Lesser looks different than the other geonosians. Heh, it could be seen as an odd reversal of the ones who are different being exhalted as opposed to our society putting them down.

 

Jedi_Master_Ousley is right. According to the Essential Guide to Alien Species, Jar-Jar is a water dwelling Gungan, Boss Nass is a land dwelling Gungan.

 

Boss Nass is a Gungan. There are two different breeds of Gungans, so that might have confused people.
