I was always under the assumption that Lucas was a jew, but my friend swears on a stack that he is greek. And I said, maybe he's both!

But my friend says he's not jewish at all, just a christian greek.

Not that it makes any difference, but I was curious.

He is a Buddhist but, if I remember correctly, his parents were non-practicing Jews.

Is your friend one of those people who thinks Judaism is a race?

Is your friend one of those people who thinks Judaism is a race?

It's not a race, more like a way of life. But many people associate Judaism with "nationality" more than "religion" even though it's not literally correct.

If Judaism is a way of life, not a Nationality, no, he's not. He however likes to blur the line between Buddhism and Christianity, often joking that its a California Celebritiy's moral obligation to become Buddhist.

Harrisson Ford and Carrie Fisher however, are both half-Jewish, and Natalie Portman is full-blood Jewish. (Using Jewish in this context, as a Nationality, not a religion).

    Oy Vey!

To settle this issue, we must run a midichlorian test!

    He cuts down trees.
    He eats his lunch.
    He goes to the lavatory.

Judaism is a religion and nothing more. The Nazis said that the great Jewish lie is that Jews are a race, but that just isn't true.

This is what is wrong with the JC. All threads seems to veer off course and ultimately end with Hitler being discussed by German born Canadians.

Judaism is a religion and nothing more. The Nazis said that the great Jewish lie is that Jews are a race, but that just isn't true.

That is, again, technically true. But many Jewish people (i.e. people that would be classified Jews by religion) -- even non-practicing Jews -- believe that Judaism is ALSO a way of life and hence, almost a "nationalistic" function.

It is indeed a way of life, but people can choose whether or not to live life that way. People can convert to and from Judaism as they please (provided they do a few things). That's what makes it a religion, and not a race. You can have black Jews and white Jews, Hispanic Jews and Asian Jews.

It's not really like a nationality. More of a subculture.

Much like living in one country vs. another -- someone can move. The distinction between nationalism and religion is often very blurred these days. ;)
