PT Is it a stretch to call the prequels some of the worst films ever made?

It's still a generalization- just as offensive to some women as a statement about the "more common traits" of some other societal group could be, to members of that group.

If someone were to say "Greed is a common Scottish trait, if it wasn't there would be no prejudice against Scots" - it would be just as offensive.

Replace "Scot" and "greed" with whatever group, and vice, you can think of.

So a large number of women want a man like those in romance stories, huh? A large number of us are airheads who can't see past physical appearance and stupid pick-up lines?

You do realize that you have just made a stereotype as offensive as "Jews are cheap and have big noses"? Or are we both missing the other's offense because I'm not Jewish and you aren't a woman?

I didn't say what Plinkett said. I never said "all" women, so isn't a generalization. And even that doesn't compare to the anti-semitic caricature that is Watto.

"Most women" is still a generalization, and a disgusting one at that.

I didn't say "most women" either, so don't misquote me

"a large number" and "most" are completely different.

"It's a fact that X is a more common trait among women"

    is as offensive as

"It's a fact that X is a more common trait among (insert group here)"

    Exactly.

The only exception would be "having a uterus/ovaries/vagina is more common among women" or "having breasts is more common among women." Or "having facial hair or bulky muscles is less common among women."

Please don't misquote me and draw false conclusions based on those misquotes.

"It's a fact that a large number of (people) desire (X)" If there weren't there would be no (badly behaved people)"

Insert appropriate things and it should be more obvious how problematic the statement can become.

Well, um, wow. I'd say this thread is now off the rails. Locking.
