Amph Is it possible to have an "ultimate" antagonist of a Superhero Trilogy/Series?

Like EVERY villain of this trilogy/series is linked to this ultimate antagonist. Nearly EVERYTHING was setup to build the final showdown between the hero and this villain? It would require a lot of good writing and good oversight to make, but you know it's going to be very amazing if it could be done right.

Right now, The Amazing Spider Man series was the only one trying to do it, every bad guy/bad thing was related to the Osborncorp. too bad the 2nd movie didn't meet the expectation.

Thanos probably got the best build up, still Avengers 2 got little to do with him. Most of the MCU's bad things got little to do with him.

Iron Man could have followed this path if the Mandarin plot wasn't twisted. Killian actually got little to do with the real Ten Rings, which was involved in the previous 2 movies. Captain America trilogy got Hydra as the villain of its first 2 movies but got little link between each other. The third movie is Civil War, MCU Zemo wasn't Hydra member either.

FOX got many "awesome big bad" but couldn't do them well. X-3 was horrible and Apocalypse also suffered from lack of previous setup, such a big villain deserves more than 1 post credit scene before his own movie. Let's hope they could do better to Dark Phoenix.

Nolan's Batman got LoS as the villain of BB and TDKR but I won't call the links and build up good enough. Talia wasn't handled well.

DCEU's Superman could have been done that way if there was MoS2 and 3 instead of BVS, like that:
Krypton's Destruction was due to its super computer Brainiac's deception.

Brainiac serves as the 2nd movie's antagonist.
Brainiac left out a plan to create/awake the cursed creature Doomsday as the villain of the 3rd one, also the perfect chance to introduce Superman's Death.

Right now they are trying to setup Darkseid, but I won't call JL a very good setup, all we got was Steppenwolf calling Darkseid's name.

    The basic questions are:

    1. How is the rest of the world so utterly unaware of this vast conspiracy?

    2. How does he or she have such meticulous omniscience to let a plan with that many contingencies unfold over months or years?

    3. Why not just go after the hero yourself from the outset?

If you were a movie hero, slowpoke, you'd be Steel as played by Shaq.

    1. They were, but not able to stop it.

    2. Power, force and intelligence.

    3. Because they couldn't in the first place?

There are such "ultimate villain" setting in other series like Voldemort, Palpatine and Sauron.

    1. They didn't bother to, just sent their pawns to do it (Palpatine)
    2. They were yet to recover their power(Sauron, Voldemort)
    3. They got plans for the hero(Palpatine)

Yes, as long as the antagonist is played by Kate Beckinsale.

So how would any of this apply to superheroes. I could only really see the first as being practical, but then it would also be stupid. If something is that problematic, you should probably, you know, go deal with it.

How did any of it didn't apply to superheroes?

What's wrong if the antagonist doesn't want to deal with the hero at first, yet to recover his/her power, or wanted to let the hero grow then use him/her for special purpose? Even comics have many plot like that.

Recover their power from what? Most superhero stories aren't about some ancient hidden evil that is slowly coming back to life after 6 billion years for some contrived reason. Nor should they be.

Also, what purpose is so special that it merits letting him wreck your entire enterprise to date? At some point, it really is far easier just to kill them. You're applying fantasy concepts to stories that aren't really of the same genre. So explain how this would work for, say, Spiderman.

He's not a messiah. There's no special prophecies about him. He's not facing off against and evil from before the age of the Sumerians. He's just in New York ruining some crime ring. Fine. Why not just murder him and let things go back to the way they were?

From weakened state or trying to gather up their power. Actually there were quite a few comic villains had that kind of story.

To connect the whole story together and build up the climax in a better way. Some villains obviously require much more setup like Phoenix and Apocalypse.Imagine if we didn't have ANH and TESB to build up RotJ's showdown between good and evil.

ASM's setting worked quite well, the Osborn corp being the ultimate baddies was a good try, ASM2 didn't fail because of it. Why does it need prophecy? Luke wasn't something like that in the OT as well.

    You're completely missing my point.

If the Kingpin is mad that Spiderman is ruining his criminal empire, why not just kill him? What is he waiting for? Why does it take multiple movies?

I would have to imagine it does. That would be pretty toxic to keep people enclosed like that on a long term voyage without attending to those sorts of issues.

Are there distance limits for transporters? Like, if I hated my job aboard the Enterprise, could they beam me back to Earth?
