people ALWAYS credit the rise of the empire to anakin/vader.when it was really palpatine who was running the show.now, lets pretend good ole' palpy for whatever reason, never found anakin, would he still have gotten to power and killed billions of people??

    YES!!!!

was vader a big part of it??YES!!!

vader was the second most evil of them all,but not the worst, that title goes the criminal master mind palpatine!!

I think Palpatine would have gotten into power no matter what happened. Vader didn't have that big a dent in it.

Ironically, if Vader wasn't there then the rebellion would have lost.

I don't know if the Rebellion would have lost. Vader didn't do anything to help the rebellion. He killed Palps, but by that time the Deathstar's shield was down. Palps was history anyway.

No he wasn´t. If it hadn´t been for Anakin and Luke, Palpatine would have escaped to Imperial Center before the Death Star exploded.
Anakin was, unbeknownst to the Rebel Alliance, one of the greatest heroes of the Battle of Endor.

Palpatine could escape if Vader didn't attack him, Luke would be toast, but this was a decisive defeat for the Empire itself since the shield was down. Palps might survive but he would be forced to go into hiding once again. I just wonder, what would happen to Vader (still loyal to Palps and letting Luke die) if the Empire was defeated.

The Empire wasn´t defeated just because the Rebels destroyed the Death Star. If Palpatine had survived ROTJ, the only thing that would´ve made that victory greater than the one in ANH would be that they destroyed the DS before it could destroy a planet.
The Emperor would still be in control and pretty soon, he would´ve made a new(and better) trap for the Alliance.

Yeah, that's the entire reason Anakin is redeemed. Palpatine could've gotten to power without Anakin's help, even if it might have taken slightly longer to destroy the Jedi; but the Rebellion utterly would have failed without Anakin killing Palpatine.

I think he could have still created the Empire, but his rule would have ended much sooner had it not been for Anakin

While Palpatine is credited as the mastermind, remember it's Anakin that is credited with hunting down the Jedi and killing pretty much all but a handful of them. If he hadn't done that then the Jedi could have stormed Palpatine's palace and taken him out
