Once you've outrunned the Sandmen, everything is smooth going. (I just had to make a Logan's Run reference)
I was at my great-grandmother's funeral a couple of years back. She was born in 1897. Lived across three centuries. Interesting, that.
I'm going to be 42 on the Ides of March. That's like, the answer to Life, The Universe and Everything. And don't be a dick. Or we'll stab you like Cesar or something.
I'll be 42 in December and I've already decided on a party where we sit around on our towels and contemplate intergalactic travel.
At my age, it is possible to contemplate intergalactic travel without the aid of hallucinogenic substances. I told you turning 40 was awesome. (And @mrsvos , can I steal that line about turning 42 for my signature?)
At around 30, you start worrying about all that 'OMG, I'm not young anymore!!' 35, you're like 'I'm in the PRIME, BABY!" 40, you might have a laps of the OMG's... 42, you ARE Life the Universe and EVERYTHING, 45 "OMG! I'm gonna ****ING DIE???? After that, it's all academic, and when you get carded for booze, it REALLY makes your day, even though you can't miss the Tip Jar that now has an extra fiver in it...
We call it 'ethnigens' *hic* or something. Half the authors in the New Age section at the boostore know what I'm talking 'bout. The other half are drinking with me.
I am anxious for everyone on here to turn 30. It dramatically enhances the quality of posting when you reach an age where you cease typing like you have the answer to everything and then you get to look back and wish that you had an edit time of 10 years on some the insipid bs you once tried to pass off as intellect on here in your 20's.
Everybody looks back on their past self's "insipid" posting with disdain, but I really wonder if people become wiser or just more cynical? I respect people whose opinions don't change very much.
I also dislike it when people increase in life experience and knowledge. Glad to know we are on the same page regarding development.
Meh, sarcasm aside, you have to realize that "increases in life experience and knowledge" are correlated with hormonal changes in men and women. You don't become the all seeing eye of god just because your brain starts telling you to settle down and make babies.
I imagine that when I am 30 I will feel roughly the same way I did when I was 12 - that what most people mistake as "deepening insight" is just personal surrender to the dominant norms of society and the relief that comes from knowing that you are now in sync with the collective. That is, unless you have some insights that actually are profound, ACOD, in which case I want to hear them.
