JCC Is It Time To Close The Libraries?

    I put fic on my kobo in .epub format. That's what seems to play best with my ereader, but I don't know what works best with nooks. If you don't have the program Calibre, I highly recommend it. You can convert any doc into a bunch of different formats and then load them up and see which ones work best on your nook.

    Actually I was told in grad school that some of them do. I haven't actually seen such a library though.

    Ya know. I feel really stupid that I haven't been able to make the connection until now. Probably not true, but they're both fairly insane.

    I'm not sure what you are trying to for hear. Landthefake had stupid points, but are you suggesting that the development of new science and technology isn't progress.

    Technology is progress, but libraries are not anti-technology. Quite the opposite in fact, at least in the case of the good libraries.

    I prefer waiting until progress has been presented, abandoned, and then reintroduced. I am still not sure what to do with these asbestos tiles I installed in my home. These things may come back into acceptance, again.

    No, I just thought his unexamined notion that libraries could go away now because we have new gadgets was actually so dumb that it counteracted any progress the new technology might have engendered. In trying to express that in his conversation level the nuance of the message was clearly lost.

    face it man, libraries are gonna be the way of the dinosaur in a few years..

    Sure there might be libraries around, like these major giant libraries but people will be going to them like how they go to museums. It'll be like this novelty nostalgic thing people visit but never to actually research information any longer.

    Why would you go to one when the same information will be available on something the size of a hand held tablet.

    itll just be a natural progression of technology like most other things have faced
