Here's definte information of Mace Windu's fate from the official site.

Defenseless, Windu was bombarded with Sith lightning as Sidious unleashed a torrent of deadly energy at the Jedi Master. The forked bolts of lightning penetrated Mace's body, illuminating his form from within. The final blast bodily lifted him into the air, sending his form hurling into the Coruscant skies, to crash lifelessly somewhere in the vast cityscape below.

If Mace is alive then noone ever dies in the GFFA.

His hand is cut off, he's bolted with lightning and thrown out of a skyscraper. You never see him afterwards so you might conclude that he's dead.

    It's kinda funny.

I own a Star Wars Roleplaying suplement made by West End Games, that was published before the prequels had even been mentioned. I thinks it's from the early 90's.
However according to that book, which takes place after A New Hope, in Mos Eisley there is this Squib droid dealer named Mace Windu (spelled exactly like Mr. Jacksons character in the prequels).
A Squib is a race of beings that look like big white rabbits.

So no Mace Windu did not die, he was merely turned into a big crazy white rabbit and moved to Mos Eisley.

Son, try just getting repeatedly hit with lightning and then merely falling out a window on the floor of a 1 - 2 mile tall building. I don't think you'll just be going to the Coruscant ER to be treated and released.

There's been a lot of threads about this subject popping up lately. And even though it's been pretty much conceded that Mace IS dead, I admit I think it would make for some great EU literature during the jedi purge to have Mace alive, but perhaps living "underground"....Valiento had a pretty respectable thread going on for a little while in the literature forums:

I can just imagine flying an open-air speeder in Coruscant and having a fried, one-armed Jedi Master landing on my hood.

Even if he was alive after the blast of lightning, the fall would have broken his neck well and truly, Jedi Master or no Jedi Master, Vaapad or no Vaapad

Powerful he is in the Force...

he's dead. But, if Boba Fett can somehow survive the Sarlacc, it's possible somewhere down the line we'll get an EU Mace Windu survival story.

I always wondered why we're supposed to believe Mace died from being thrown out the window like that. Anakin dove out of a speeder, fell hundreds of feet, and landed face down on a metal speeder without any injury. Why is that one plausible for him to survive and not Mace's? The lightning? The hand-loss? So, having both hands and being free from electricity makes the difference between a plummet to certain death and landing without so much as a bruised elbow?

Well if it makes you feel better to leave the option open, go right ahead though everytime you watch the movie or read anything about it you'll be heartbroken, because he's dead. [Emperor's cackle]

Given as dull as Mace was (in my opinion), nothing pleases me more than the thought of him dying. What gets me is it's (in my opinion) a lame and crappy "death," since the previous film showed a fall from a great height on Coruscant is, not only, non-lethal, but also non-painful.

Mace Windu IS alive. I saw him last week at a Walmart arguing with a manager because his credit card had been declined. He raised his empty de-handed stump and pointed it at the manager who simply laughed at the poor old man. Mace left the store weeping uncontrollably.
