ST Is Rey still going to be called Rey in Ep. VIII?

Unless otherwise specified, I'm betting on Rey being referred to as "Rey" for the time being. It is short, quick and easy to say, and follows the pattern of most main Star Wars characters having short (ish) names which are easy to say.

 

Anything but Rey Solo. If she turns out to be Kylo's sister or half-sister I'm going to puke.

 

Why does "Rey" have to be not her real name? Because she was dropped on a planet and orphaned? All 5-6 year olds can remember their own names. Even if her memory of a horrific incident was erased or lost, she'd still remember her name is Rey just as she remembered she's supposed to wait on Jakku for her family to come back for her.... IDK, I think even if she's a Skywalker, Rey is most likely her real first name. Also, that simplifies things for Disney toys.

 

Kira "Rey" Kenobi has a nice ring to it.

 

She's obviously a Skywalker-Solo. She inherited her mom's talent for the Jedi arts and her dad's memory for the Jedi arts.

Anakin? Obi-Wan? Qui-Gon?

 

They're still easy to say and of typical name length in most cultures.

 

Have you watched these movies? If I've learned anything about Star Wars it's that if my last name were Skywalker, I'd definitely want a backup lightsabre.

 

Touche. But my thought process was that Luke and Yodas lines were just reused lines from the OT (although Frank Oz was brought in to rerecord them) whereas Kenobi's lines were brand new and spoken directly to Rey.

They've not always been too careful about it, though. I mean, Anakin goes into the Vader costume with a North American accent (nearly said 'American', but had an idea Christensen was Canadian and checked to confirm) and takes the mask off in ROTJ with a British accent. So they cast the prequels already having an established accent for Anakin care of Sebastian Shaw, but didn't bother to get an actor who sounded similar or get whoever they hired to try and sound like him. Which is doubly weird, with McGregor doing his best Alec Guinness impersonation for three movies.

So, what i'm saying is: sometimes they really don't think about things like accents as much as fans do.

I think she's a Skywalker -- but I like her being called just as "Rey"

I Maybe her Name is Jade Skywalker? as a Homage to Mera Jade, Lukes wife in the Old EU?

 

Her real name is Annaka Kenobi. (Named after Anakin)
So, Annaka is named after Ben Solo's grandfather, and Ben Solo is named after Annaka's grandfather.

 

Rey will always be Rey to me.
Don't care what the last name is.
Or at least not yet.
Rey Palpatine or something like that.
