ST Is the Galactic Empire military incompetent

    From a military point of view, is the Galactic Empire inneffective? From the movies and EU, how do the people here rate their military strategies with regards to things such as moving armies and groups of ships around? How do GE generals and admirals and their officers stack up against their counterparts in the Rebel side, generally speaking?
