Is the music from the Sail Barge included in any particular track?

I love the beat from the song Max Rebo & co. play while aboard the Sail Barge. Is that in any of the RotJ tracks?

    No. :(

Too bad. Because if I ever heard funk, that stuff is it.

the tracks are lost.... but are the notes lost, too? can't they re-record it somehow? I bet good musicians can even get it right by a few hours of guessing!

I could swear I heard this track being played somewhere at a convention two weeks ago...
It was too crowded, noisy and stressful so I never found out what it was, or who played it.

Yeah, its a shame. I remember looking for that track the first time I poped in my ROTJ:SE CD. It isn't there.

The last time it was used was in the documentary, "From Star Wars to Jedi: The Making of a Saga".

I've been looking for an mp3 of that for a LONG time..

That and the OLD version of the song from Jabba's palace. The one that sounds a titchy bit like Nutbush City Limits.

That and the OLD version of the song from Jabba's palace. The one that sounds a titchy bit like Nutbush City Limits.

It's called "Lapti Nek" and was on the original Return of the Jedi soundtrack and is also on the 4 disc box set. It's not tough to find.

There was also a promotional 12" 45 rpm record released in 1983 with "Club" and "Dub" versions of the song. The two songs total about 13 minutes. Joseph Williams (John's son) also did a cover version, including the only release of the song with english lyrics. Though he never translates the title, "Lapti Nek" means "Fancy Man". Side 2 of Joseph Williams' album is an instrumental version of the song from side 1. Meco also did a cover version of it.

Keep in mind even with all of these recordings, the film version of the song has never been issued.

Here are the lyrics (written by Annie M. Arbogast):

    Ab queck zenick fesi
Jup col im in na hiz jal, ooh.
Wa toc peg qui dos gee pif, aah.
Joc jarraz bas deg zorze zot.
    Jer wih tuster mo vey
qui neb be og ezen on
wok lapti nek seb not van
goc jarraz bas deg zorze zot.

Lapti nek, rat a ran wim joct co jappi qaff,
lapti nek, kiv ba ha top wep jex pi va bep,
lapti nek rat a ran wim joct co jeppi quaff.

    Ab queck zenick fesi
    jem wih tuster mo vey
qui neb be og ezen on
wok lapti nek seb not van
wah toc peg qui doz gee pif
goc jarraz bas deg zorze zot.

Lapti nek, rat a ran wim joct co jappi qoff,
lapti nek, kiv ba ha top wep jex pi va bep,
lapti nek rat a ran wim joct co jappi qaff.

    Deg zorze zot.
    Jem with tuster mo vey
qui neb be og ezen on
wok lapti nek seb not van
goc jarraz bas deg zorze zot.

    Deg zorze zot,
    Lapti nek, lapti nek.

The 1993 anthology release only has the album version of Lapti Nek, the same cue that was on the original Return of the Jedi LP from 1983.

All of the other versions were only released on LP as far as I know, except for the Meco version.
