Is there a tutorial for contact flashes in adobe after effects?

    I dont know how to add the flashes when two lightsabers hit each other. How do i do this?

    I guess i should have been more specific. How do i add the contact flashes when they are behind something.

    Animate a subtraction mask on the contact flash's layer that tracks teh movement of whatever object is supposed to be in front of the flash.

    I did that but IT looks horrible. It looks very rigid.

    watch videos 16-21 on the dvgarage tutorials section. One of them shows you how to place a contact flash between 2 people. Personally I dont bother because the flashes are so fast you wont notice.

    It actually WILL be noticed, even over only a tenth of a second.

    To make a flash appear behind someone, apply a subtraction mask, then blur the resulting effect again to spill over the edges and avoid the cookie cutter look.
