Ahem, my friend and I have two fansites, and we decided to merge them together by using a forum to use for both sites, and I searched long and hard and found only two boards that I really liked. If you want my advice, I'll tell you.

First off, I don't use IGN, not because they are a bad system, but because I found a couple of systems that I think work just as good, and they are free.

    1. Invisionfree. A very user-freindly system, Highly reccomended.

2 Phpbb-host.com great system, a couple of problems here and there.

hope this helped, I suggest you keep looking if you really want ign that bad. You'll eventually find it, im sure.

Suggestion: don't be cheap and use a premade forum site. Just write your own.

I'd suggest doing so in PHP and then running mySQL for the database. If you need help, just contact me. I've done this before several times, so I have plenty of experience.

Phatooine.net has a beta in place. A member has to go into their profile and change the theme to HB preview.

The beta is version 1 and is still being worked on by Lord Tuvitor. Version 2.0 is looking crisp and soon to be released.

Some host provide PHP boards with their hosting service. Or atleast mine does. It's pretty cool, but honestly hosting a message board eats up a lot of bandwidth, so consider it before hosting it via site.

I find that the best way to create a forum is with Fantastico. Fantastico has many PHP scripts that are free to install directly from Cpanel. You could even create your own Fan Site using an engine like PHP Nuke which is easily installed through Fantastico. This way you can save yourself the trouble of doing the install yourself and setting up the SQL and CHMODs. If your looking for a cheap host for your fan site that offers Fantastico check out http://www.electhosting.com. To use fantastico you need a domain but you can get an interactive plan for about $3.95 a month that is based on Mambo. Mambo is a good interactive platform that has forums and log ins and an easy to adapt web based control. You really don't even need to know how to program HTML. The controls are all through easy to use forms. Hope this helps.

You can use vBulletin and hack the hell out of it. That's what we're doing.
