I came to wondering - reading Palpatine on the EU section of Wookiepedia and forums and debates whether he was the most Powerful Sith Lord of all time ... and I just could not help but wonder is there even the Most Powerful or Truly Powerful characters of all time? Given the fact unless you are like the Superemo One Above All Omnipotent Immortal Invulnerable P.I.S. character - it seems one way or another the saying 'everything will have an ends to it ...' and that things cannot always be indefinite hence we can't really have a 'Truly Powerful' or 'Most Powerful' character can we?

Given the fact also in Naruto for instance - where Kakuzu just before he dies for good he laments how for all his powers and experience as an Elite S-Ranked Shinobi Ninja he was 'beaten by a bunch of brats and kids' and Kakashi remarked 'this is the way of life ... the generation now will always be surpassed in the end by the future generations...' and the fact in real life if we look at once Powerful beings or individuals - they may have been the best in their prime and even in their later years they still retain strong control and such BUT in the end one way or another someone else will take their niche or they will die and without a successor ... or if you think - the best of today - in a decade or several decades or centuries - sure it may still be respectable but surely inevitably something or someone else will be up for taking grabs for the crown eh?

Plus also the fact how in Bleach where the now current Captain Commander Kyouraku - whilst he is very Powerful and very strong for a Shinigami Captain and Commander - he remarked how Toshiro Hitsugaya had the potential in 100 years to surpass him then ... and back to Star Wars - wouldn't that be the same story then? Given look at Master Yoda or Luke or Anakin ... and the fact how there surely in the EU and Canon would have been Powerful potential candidates to rival them ...

Or Palpatine himself - he may be a very Powerful Sith Lord yes and being trained to a high standard by Darth Plagueis BUT what about the following candidates:

    1.) Marka Ragnos
    2.) Exar Kun
    3.) Darth Nihilus
    4.) Darth Caedus
    5.) THE REVANCHIST
    6.) Darth Vitiate

Given these Sith Lords are no push-overs neither ... and if Darth Maul himself too was a potential rival and threat to Palpatine's plans ...

The Father maybe? He was put out of action by the Son's force lightning, but with him out of the way nothing can really stop him.

Then again, he probably wouldn't want the power, representing balance as he does.

This seems better suited to EU so moving.

The Father is canonically the most powerful force user, apart from the Bedlam spirits, Ones, the next runners up are Luke and Darth Sidious respectively.

There is NOTHING wrong with Metanarratives - besides I mean why else study history? Why else bother thinking about and commemorating the past? We might as well coldly and arrogantly deny the achievements of many - but that's not right! And besides the saying 'never doubt the unnatural' and such ... I mean why else then in the EU - Darth Plagueis emphasized the importance of appreciating Ancient Sith history and such - even if the Ancient Sith were violent selfish butchers and thugs yet he emphasized the importance of studying those aspects and accusing Palpatine of 'lacking patience and only desire to acquire Power rather than appreciating and understanding Ancient Sith history'... and the fact how Darth Plagueis remarked how he could 'bore Palpatine to death for years about the exploits of Freedon Nadd, Belia Darzu and Darth Zannah...'

The Father is the most powerful Force users.

But, of course, powerful is subjective and depends on individual perspective.

I'd say that Luke or Palpatine would be the most powerful. But I don't know. The Father, Yoda, Abeloth, and others are contenders, as well.

Like Immodet said, we live in postmodern times. It's hard to determine things like this.

I guess Abeloth and Father are the most powerful of all time.

It's hinted that the Force Demon Wutzek, from The Pandora Effect, is capable of devastating entire star systems on his own.

Suzal: "Wutzek? Wutzek is a demon, a Force creature of unimaginable power. It is believed that long ago his kind owned the universe..."

Inside its cage the captive energy cluster pulses and shimmers. It does not plead or threaten. It simply asks for its freedom.
The Wookiee hesitates, telepathic images flooding into his mind. He sees the universe when it was young, when it was lifeless...
...Save for the flickering, pastel glows of the demons as they floated in their awful glory across the barren dawn worlds.
Time stretches and seems to stop. There is only the demon, the spellbound Wookiee, and the decision.
Such power, unleashed after eons of humiliating captivity, could devastate a world, a system, and yet...
    ...And yet...
