Isn't Obi-Wan lucky?

I was at an Irish-style pub the other night, and noticed two things on the drink menu.

First of all, you may know that Alec Guinness's mother worked at a bar, and he never knew his father, but was told at the age of 12 or 14 that his last name was Guinness. That is, of course, also the name of a beer. Given his mother's job, I wouldn't be surprised if that was the source of the name.

So of course, Guinness was on the menu last night. Also on the menu, a Scottish beer: McEwan.

So, let's see: Alec Guinness--Guinness.
Ewan McGregor--McEwan. Looks like my favorite character has two beers name for him.

*laughs* Thats cool! I never knew that!

 

I believe that Guiness'father was a Scotsman (I'm sure I read that somewhere in an article on Sir Alec) but that's a pretty good connection, lol! No doubt given the propensity of drunken "Obi-Wan-in-bar/with drink problem" threads going about that just backs the theory up!

BTW, McEwan's export = Urgh! That's why we Scots export it!

 

Hmm, and wouldn't you know it, we all have Kenobi in our icons.

 

How did they taste?

 

Never tried McEwan's. Guinness varies depending on where you get it. When I tried it, it was awful.

 

I'm sure that those names and the connections to Obi-Wan are merely coincidence, but hell, that's freakin' awesome...

 

Well I don't drink so I wouldn't know about this type of thing.

 

Oh my...you just HAVE to tell all those mates in the threads that discuss Obi-Wan being a drunk. They'll LOVE it!
