    Who do you think Introduced Palpatine to Mon Cal Opera? And that whole "slave of Tarkin" thing? Just a ruse to get Agent Ackbar in place to keep an eye on Tarkin.

    I just saw the episode of TCW where Palpatine yells out "it's a trap!" That's UNCONTROVERTIBLE proof that Palpatine and Ackbar are old buddies.

    They then broke up after a disastrous dinner date where Mon insensitively ordered the Calamari appetizer. Thus, in the end, it was Winter who seduced Ackbar away from his friend Palpatine and into the Rebellion.
