Wash, DC It's official - C4 is in LA

Great. LA over Memorial Day weekend. Yeah, that's affordable.

And it's still run by GenCon. Well, if I end up going, I hope I get to, ahem, inform GenCon employees of their incompetence in the elevator again. That was fun!

And has it occurred to them how many email filters will be triggered by talking about C4 and bombs in the same sentence?

 

I'm not going, no way no how.

 

Well it does say the store will be open 24 hours, that's one thing they fixed....

 

That isn't enough to get me to go to LA.

I'm planning to go to SWW in Orlando instead then. I think I'll have a better time.

 

I'm SO THERE! I'll head out a few days before and leave a few days after so I can spend some quality time with my brother as well, so on top of that my plane tickets won't be QUITE as expensive

 

Well, that's just great! Now it really IS official: I will NOT be going to Celebration 4! You won't get me anywhere NEAR the thing!

If it were in San Diego, run by the SD Comic Con people, I'd think about it. Heck, I may end up going to the SDCC this year! But I refuse to go to LA for ANY reason! That city has THE worst traffic in the country, worse even than our traffic around here. NO THANK YOU, MR. LUCAS!

 

I'm not going, either. airfare to CA is way too expensive...

 

Yeah well not happy with GenCon...however plane tickets to LA with Jet Blue are really well priced...BTW I've also driven in LA (in LA proper and around the area) and the traffic is REALLY not that bad...drivers are MUCH worse in NY

Too bad this wasn't going to happen in San Francisco, that would have been awesome! I would have gone for an extra weeks' vacation. Oh well.

 

Yeah, if it had been in San Fran I would've been there with bells on, GenCon or no! Too bad they didn't go with that.

 

I would have loved it to be in San Francisco. I have family there, it would have been a great trip /sigh.

 

You'll have to stand in line that long to get in.

 

LA is possibly the worst place to have it. I'm saving money to go, but if that doesn't work i say we just have a big party for all the poor geeks that couldn't go.

I really only go to conventions to hang out with my fellow geeks, so why go to LA to do that?

 

Perhaps our own "satellite" C-4 program for the East Coast with:
o Badly organized events
o Really long lines
o 2nd-3rd tier Guests (Spat maybe?)
o Overpriced merchandise
o Festering recriminations

 

I'd say it's time for Slacker Con III next year instead.
