ST It's Official: Disney Ditched The Lucas ST

Well my interest in Episode 7 just plummeted down to zero.
How is this different from the old EU? Looks like we'll never find out what really happened to these characters, after all. Pardon me while I scream into a pillow for several hours.

Well, it's not like anyone else can create a good story. I think the SW universe will be just fine.

All already being discussed in the "Mystery of the treatment" thread and it's generally decided that George is exaggerating as he always does about what that means. All evidence points towards most of his ideas making it in but in a different fashion than anticipated. I still hold my hopes

 

Lucas's ideas aren't being used

 

The same can be reciprocated in an opposite fashion towards those whom desire not to see his ideas implemented

 

Lucas is planning to see the film as a regular audience member... he only just saw the teaser. From the teaser, he deduced that nothing of his treatment was used? Unlikely.

I wish they used them but at least Lucas can't be blamed if the movies suck not saying they will.

 

Didn't see this being discussed in that thread. Looked like it was in the middle of an unrelated discussion and I went back several pages.

 

Lucas bashers will always find reasons to bash Lucas.

Listen, I love Lucas, the man's a huge inspiration for me, but he does have a tendency to exaggerate or stretch the truth quite a bit. I'm guessing they're using his outlines and simply making alterations to the specifics, such as focusing on some characters more than others or moving certain events around. Lucas is very, very hands on, and if he feels they're not doing the story the way he imagined it or would have done it, he likely regards it as them no longer doing his story. I'm willing to bank they're still using his outlines and following the broad strokes. I doubt they just started pulling stuff out of thin air after Arndt left.

 

It's all anyone is talking about in there. It's all they've been talking about for at least 30 pages.

There are several pieces of evidence that couldn't be provided with one link: Given the fact that Iger was "elated" (his own word) by what he saw, coupled with Simon Kinberg stating that the new JJ/Kasdan script is still based on the treatment as a whole (though not as specifically as Arndt's script) back in June or something, AND Jett Lucas's statement that his father was in regular contact with JJ during filming (IE after the script was finalized,) we can still safely say that we're getting something still close to George's ST.
