So, Americans of the JCC, what's your opinion on the politics of Bulgaria? Should Bulgaria adopt the Euro?

Well, I did just find out that the Hungarian government read the tea leaves correctly re: CHF and the Euro and will be okay - while Poland is totally screwwwwwwwwwwwed.

If I ever plan to visit Bulgaria on a tour of Europe, Bulgaria needs to adopt the euro because I'm a lazy-ass who doesn't want to have to remember several exchange rates or bother exchanging money several times.

But I don't plan to visit Bulgaria so I don't care.

I want honorary French citizenship. Those damn socialists complain if they work more than 35 hours a week. And they get five weeks vacation a year. And the wine is good and cheap.

I visited Poland after they joined the EU but before they adopted the Euro. It was great, and also cheap. I can only assume getting the Euro has screwed that up.

It's part of it, but also because apparently because of the Swiss government's stubbornness, many of the Euro-using countries leveraged debt (and specifically mortgages) in Swiss francs as I understand it.

It is frightening! Who knows a bunch of exchange rates off the top of their head?!

And then he can do the mental math and figure out how much something cost in USD excedingly fast, where I just round up, that way it's actually cheaper than I expected.
