    8) Bottomless pits in random locations

Yeah - SW Bounty Hunter had quite a few of those. I managed to find an unintended one in the Prison Break-in level as well!

    ^ So true.

So many times in RPGs I'm defeated by locked doors or chests even though I'm wielding a frickin battle-axe.

That's the "Insurmountable Waist-Height Fence" that Master-Fatburt linked to at #10.

I saw an awesome example of that when playing through Gears of War 2; you kill a brumak on a bridge and Marcus is like "it's blocking the bridge, we'll have to find another way" despite there being human sized gaps either side of it. [face_talk_hand]

I recall several variants on that trope, as described at the link:

The Frictionless Hill, a slope of arbitrary steepness onto which you can jump only to slide off as if the thing were coated in an industrial lubricant.

Part of the fun in Mario Sunshine was seeing just how far you could get up some of the terrain until that slippery function kicked in. Depending on your angle and the timing of your jumps, slight variations could bring wildly varying results- though all end in illogical failure.

It's especially illogical in Mario Sunshine since (in most cases*) you can literally see a different area of the island and, in the real world, would be able to access it from where you are.

*Hotel Delfino is strangely absent from Gelato Beach- presumably since it takes an extreme effort to reach any view that would barely glimpse it. And it's not just a the result of an incomplete or inconsistent view- if you use the orbital skydive glitch from Gelato Beach, you can clearly see the hotel is absent from the view above the island before you conclude re-entry.

    26) ANYTHING explodes if you shoot it (I think this only applies to GoldenEye...)
