    Can't touch this

What the heck is going on in this video? People dancing seemingly randomly and not always in seqenization, and the brief flashes of kids or other people dancing. All the costume changes, and weird video editing was still early in the industry of rap.

It's a catchy tune, and noted for this:
    [image=http://www.gifbin.com/bin/1236681958_hammer-time.gif]

In conclusion, this video is a major development that was early in the rap industry, so for its time was really good. Not something I'd watch everyday though, just listen to as the video is very strange. 5/10

Royce Da 5'9": Part of me

This starts out just throwing cliches at you but it sucks you in. It tells a story and then before you are ready hits you with the shock at the end. Nice lyrics and flow as well. It makes you think twice about your actions at the club.

    10/10

    Mark Gormley- Without You

An image that stays close to my heart at all time, the power stance of Mark Gormley is one that will rock your world.

Without You starts simply enough, with an introduction by the SPACE HAPPY Phil Thomas Katt, who deserves a mention of his own. PTK is an intense man, riding a boat that went the way of the Titanic about twenty years ago. Clad in black, this is a man who takes his music seriously. So you should listen to him when he describes Without You as "a great song" and "very very intense". Setting the stage for the music, PTK fades to black.

The beat starts up, a gentle but intense melody that could make only the gayest baby angels playing harps cry. A luxuriant babe takes the screen, chilling out beside a tree or some ****. A few moments of this sets the stage for a deep and inspiring music video. Finally, we get to the main attraction, the man himself: Mark Gormley.

Here i sit with a cigarette burning
All alone and you're not here
All by myself and no one to talk to
Thinkin' bout you girl, is all I can do.

These lyrics, powerful and mournful, bring with them a sense of deep sadness. Gormley is clearly a troubled man lost in a turbulent and cruel world. The viewer feels immediate sympathy for this poor soul, and may even be stricken with an urge to turn off this melancholy jam to prevent gay angel tears. The juxtaposition of Gormley onto various scenery, including a bed of cushy clouds and dark night lit strikingly by the aurora borealis, indicate that Gormley is conflicted about his situation. At times he is a man above the world, care free and powerful, while at other times alone in the night, in need of something to pierce the crippling darkness.

Go in the night, pack your things up and lie
I guess I?ll beware of love with a bite
Roll on girl, roll to tomorrow
Travelin? on girl Without You in the night

Suddenly, Gormley fights back. No longer content to sit and mourn, he seizes the day and refuses to let the loss of his love have a paralyzing hold on him any longer. Vehemently, he casts out what little bit of hope he was holding on to, and resolutely plunges himself onwards, in search of bigger and better. This is a powerful verse, and quite possibly one of the greatest things ever written by man. The imagery in this verse is just as telling as the previous. Gormley is now a man lost, alone, stranded on a desert island looking for....something, anything. Anything but love.

    All alone in the night
Without You holding me tight in the? night
Without me all alone in the night
Without You holding me tight in the night

Repetition gets Gormley through those long and cold nights, his once great love turned into a frosty hate. This chorus shows Gormley marching onwards through a boggy marsh, on the lookout for any insidious vipers (women). The powerful music rips through the atmosphere, channeling his rage in a way his voice might not quite accomplish. The tension in the air is palpable. What will happen next? What is next for Mark Gormleys journey through heartbreak?

Scoring a point, is that all you think of?
Putting another prize on the wall?
Don?t play around with my affection, woman
Someone you know will not come when you call

The righteous fury of Gormley has reached full force, and he strikes out at the hussy who would dare break his heart. He paints her as a shallow tramp, not worthy of his manly affection. The imagery in this scene agrees with this statement, as it shows his former love prancing daintily in a tiny bikini through what looks like a food court of old people with sour looks on their faces. This woman who Gormley loved with a passion is nothing more than some street walker, a lady of the night. Who is she to deserve his love? She's nobody. NOBODY.

The final imagery shows footage of a rocket taking off for new and better places. It shows a journey to the moon, landing finally at a poorly rendered CGI moonbase. Finally, this is Gormleys destination. The only place far

I've seen lots of music videos, so I figured I'd rate and discuss some:

Gojira - Love - This video is pretty awesome. I don't know what's going on in it, but it looks cool. Check out how that dude runs all fast, and the way the drums do a drumroll whenever he jumps across the screen. And he has this super weird look on his face when he's following the moon. And it's in black&white, just like the original Gojira. 8/10

Weezer - Island in the Sun - Weezer teamed up with an impressive array of aminals to make arguably the greatest video ever. Happy kittens abound, and puppies and bears, a monkey, even a giraffe. It's like having a zoo on your screen but without the terrible smell of a real zoo or the depressed-looking aminals. 10/10

****ed Up - Black Albino Bones - These guys realized that you don't need a lot of money to make a cool video. Really all you need is personality and this band has lots of personalities, there's like 6 people in it. 6/10

Chemical Brothers - Let Forever Be - This chick probably feels like I did when I got up today because I went out last night and drank about four beer. 7/10

Daniele Silvestri - Saliro - I know it seems like a special effect, but this dude really does have some kind of puppetmaster powers. I saw a live performance of this song on TV once, and the guy was able to pull off the same trick. 8/10

John Coltrane - Giant Steps - In the old days before movie cameras, they had to write movies down in books. Similarly, before they invented music video cameras, people had to write their music videos down in notation. In this video Coltrane blends music video technologies old and new to create a thrilling new synthesis. Those notes fly by superfast. Wow. 9/10

The Mermen - Sponge Cookie - In a crass display of commercialism, the Mermen have given the entire six minutes of their video over to shilling for a video game. What a bunch of sellouts. 0/10

    Avril Lavigne's Girlfriend

The song is easy to get stuck in your head, and the lyrics are somewhat bad to me, but about the video:

It took me a bit when I first saw this awhile back to realize that it was Avril as the redhead as well. Had to rewind it. The playing of the "nerd" and "bad" girl thing in the video I guess really did work for this, and it was somewhat funny and different to see Avril play a funny part (the nerdish girl)

But the dancing and ending in the bathroom made no sense, and getting hit in the head with a golf ball is just ow. So the video itself gets a 8/10, but the song I don't like particularly to listen to.

    Pink's So What

What is going on in this? This doesn't really indicate anything in the song really, it's just bizarre. 2/10

And as far as your video rech, it was okay. I didn't particullary like the song, but the video itself was okay. At least it made more sense than Pinks. 5/10

You all fail. Dancing Christopher Walken is the pinnacle of music video concepts. Nothing will ever touch it.

The Ok Go vids with the treadmills and the aforementioned Rube Goldberg device are reasonable runners up.

this song has one of the best videos ever. 15/10

a reimagining of a classic, it's a brilliant cover tune that gives credit to the original with a faithful recreation of the video. 12/7

it's got a midget in it, what more needs to be said? over 9000/carrot

Okay now for Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart....what the heck is going on in this video? The lyrics and definatly the video make no sense....it's just some weird, random, fonzie or greece dancing wannabees, with strange movements that look like spasms that can't be a dance, and strange overtimes, and her voice doesn't sound so good in this video...edit, I did give it a 1/10, but after rewatching it it gets a 0/10.

this version is better though the music video itself is still weird, but the lyrics to it make it funny. 6/10 because of the literal lyrics and better vocals....still a freaking weird strange video.
