Actually, Bando, marriage as a concept does transcend the government in that anyone who wishes to can enter the contract with someone they love. Or if not love then need for a green card. And still if that's not your thing then you can treat it like a corporate contract where upon you marry for money. Any of these reasons is valid for a marriage and it can be entered without the government really caring about the why but more that you get married. It doesn't care if you're a swinger or a polyamorous type. So, in that way marriage is transcending the government whether or not it approves of such conduct. Or at least that's my read on things.
