    Nice. You're a brave man to get a crazy Chaney-face permanently on your body.

    TMJ: I see the clovers and get the Irish connection, but does the pattern have any special, specific cultural significance? It definitely looks Celtic/Gaelic to my eye, so I'm guessing it has some meaning. It's beautiful, btw.

    Big Boss Nass: no offense, but...sports teams? Seriously. Sports teams? Does being a fan of sports really enrich your life that much? Does this impress the ladies?

    Clearly, you have never been to Pittsburgh.

    I don't see why sports team tattoos are any more worthy of ridicule than Star Wars or LOTR ones.

    Well considering LOTR actually contributes to and enriches contemporary literature, I will not comment on that. Star Wars? Ok, I see your point, but it seems to me that moves are way cooler tattoo inspiration than sports. Really--what do sports contribute to society? For fear of being booted from this thread, keep in mind my intention is not to insult and I am merely...baffled.

    Meh, to each their own. I know some people who love sports like I love LotR, so I don't see a difference, really. Whatever makes them happy. :)

    Edit: I need help!

    I eventually want to get this in tattoo form:

    [image=http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs22/f/2008/017/3/3/Avatar__The_Four_Elements_by_kimby.jpg]

    However, I don't know where to put it. I don't want it on my other leg, since that would just offbalance my LotR tat.

    I also would want it someplace that is easily hidden (for fancy dress-up and stuff) and that won't stretch with weight fluctuations.

    Ideas?

    Coulda fooled me. You can't really go around insulting people and being a totally superior jerk and then be like "but I don't mean to insult you!" and expect that to fly, dude.

    Anyway, I agree with Marcus, Star Wars tattoos aren't any better than sport tattoos and I'm pretty sure it's biased, short-sighted, and incredibly lame to say things like Star Wars enriches contemporary culture more than sports do. But. Whatever. My intention isn't to insult you, you meanie.

    Let's not flame.

    No offense take. I don't mind opinions, if I was going to get upset over a "possible" response I would not have posted my Tattoos. However, I have Star Wars Tattoos, and Sports Tattoos, and yes both things have enriched my life in a major way. I live and die with the city of Pittsburgh, it's a drinking town with a sports problem.

    I don't need tattoos to impress the ladies ;)

    I eventually want to get the White Tree of Gondor on my back, though, so I wasn't really keen on putting anything else back there. :-\

    (for everyone else: White Tree of Gondor:)

    Rachel, you could always go one on each shoulder and ankle. Won't be together, but will balance out. Ones like that with a collection of symbols are harder to place and still balance out against other things.

    There is a negative image of a triple spiral:

    [image=http://www.youbelongin.com/images/mandala-triskle.jpg]

    In Celtic art, it's generally understood to represent evolution, growth, and the awareness of oneself within the context of the whole. Spiritually, the idea behind it is moving from an outwardly perspective (materialism, ego, etc.) to an inward perspective (enlightenment, nirvana). I chose it because I love the way it sort of echos Buddhist philosophy (that with which I most closely identify), as well as the idea of always evolving, improving, and trying to become a better version of myself.

    Cool. It's always interesting how different forms of spirituality and philosophy overlap around the world, even when separated greatly by distance and time.

    Alright, alright, I was giving someone crap for their tattoo. I apologized and I realize I came off as a jerk. But it would seem BBN can handle himself and threw some smarmy attitude right back at me. Ultimately if you are posting pictures of your tattoos you are opening yourself to everyone's opinions, and not everyone's response will be positive.

    But I should follow the advice of Thumper and keep my loud mouth gronk sometimes.

    What the hell, girls?

    Hmm, an idea I just had was, instead of the block shape, just do the actual shape line-art in it's proper color down the top of my foot in a row on my other leg. It'll then balance out with having just line art on the other leg too.

    Edit: Quick photoshop visualization:
