Are pre-diced and pureed fresh tomatoes really common anywhere though?

Not sure, but you can get them puréed (like tomato sauce) in bags in places like Whole Foods. I think tomatoes leach more of some of the carcinogens from cans than other vegetables due to their acidity.

You could go to wherever SkywalkerNumbers suggested, where there's a museum of civil war stuff. You can learn about how the Union repressed the racially pure South!

i think two weeks is actually a great amount of time for a new york visit. you can take a few of the days just to chill and don't have to worry about cramming stuff into every second.

yeah, that's what we're thinking too. we can just take a few days to play cards or whatever in the hotel room if we're tired of walking around for days. also, one of my friends is sort of allergic to alcohol or something (if that's possible), so she always needs half a day or more to recover if she has had even just a glass of wine the night before. poor thing. she needs the extra time.

    Gramercy Tavern

Also, in Greenwich village there's a bakery called magnolia, they do the best cupcakes I've ever eaten. People queue up the street for them.

Magnolia cupcakes suck donkey balls. But they do have the best banana pudding ever.

Vin speaks the truth; also their bars and icebox cakes are good too.

And Frieda -- I may be around, but I can never swear until it gets closer for business travel.

As ambassadors from your lovely country will you be officially apologizing to our Secretary of State for the insults hurled at him over snow shoveling?

k so i'll be in nyc a week from now. how much money should i expect to spend on a day there, shopping excluded? for like food and transport and stuff. say, if we eat breakfast at the hotel but other meals out -- some of them a little fancy and some of them not. i mean, it's gotta be cheaper than norway but still, nyc is one of the more expensive cities there rite?

It's been ages since I went, but the subway I remember was cheap so transport wont an issue expense wise. Food just depends how classy you are. I didn't spend ridiculous amounts but I was on my own and happy with pizza most of the time

Ps I'm jealous I wanna go to nyc again

Orwashers in the Upper East Side has some of the best bread I've had here. I think it's worth trying.

As for subway costs, you can buy a 7 day unlimited metro card for $31.
