I've decided. I'm going to film school.

I get out of the AF next year and one of the major reasons for joining was to have 4 years to decide what I want to do with the rest of my life. Well, I've decided that I have to try film school. It's my dream and if I don't try it, I'll regret it later.

I'm looking at following in Chad Peter's steps by going to red rocks for 2 years then transferring to CU Boulder. Not sure if that's the best option, but it worked for him, maybe it'll work for me. Also, I like it here in colorado, woudn't mind staying. And if I change my residence to CO now, I can pay in-state tuition next year I think.

If anyone knows of a better way to go about it, I'm all ears. Michael, you went to film school, right? Any advice?

Also, I'll be moving up there next summer hopefully...any thoughts on the best place to look for a decent (and hopefully cheap) apartment? I'd like to get somewhere that the drive to red rocks and cu boulder both won't be too far...but I'd probably go wherever I could get the best deal. Anyone have suggestions?

Oh yeah, my car will be paid off, and I'll definitely have a pt time job as well as possibly being in the guard for a little extra school money (on top of the GI bill), so I think my only real expenses would be rent, utilities, food, and car insurance...

 

I'm at Red Rocks CC right now, it's a pretty good place. If you want me to pick up any info, just ask. I'll probably get there again around next week or so, but I'm not sure.


The military is always a good place to start. I'm still trying to join...damn rules on disbailities.


Anyways, if you need any help, just yell. I'll do what I can. I know for sure I'll be back at Red Rocks CC April 23-26 for Wildland Fire Fighting; that's a Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.

Anything I can do to help let me know, I did some research on grants & scholorships when I was in school. There's a lot of money out there people are waiting to give to students.

ok. im going for psychology, irish on my moms side and swedish i think on my dads side ( i need to go back and look at that again though) and my parents didnt go to college.

 

Same for me but i am an EMS major.

JD, not sure if you're familiar with this site or not, but it's got some pretty nifty resources for budding filmmakers*. I don't know much about the curriculum per se, but it might have some handy info.



*(As opposed to filmmakers who do buds...)
