Seriously, I'm completely out of interesting stuff. Back in my pomp, I had **** for days, but mostly nowadays, I just do a bit of work, occasionally drop, or pick up one of the kids, pay the odd bill, go Sainsbury's, score some bread, or milk, or stuff for din-dins.

Thing is, I quite like it.

Done any mundane **** lately, and quite liked it?

You say "din-dins", so you got that.

Same here, mate. The older I get, the more introverted and habit-driven I become. My day goes like this:

    gym > butcher/fishmonger & greengrocer > work > walk/swim > work > cook > eat > read/watch TV > sleep

At weekends, I might drive somewhere to go for a walk, or swim at a different beach. Oh, and I fire arrows at things on Sundays and sometimes fish but that's it. That's my life.

Yeah... I do quite like it.

The other night I stayed up watching Narcos until after midnight. It was quite a night.

Last week I went to a thrift shop and bought a bunch of "adulting" clothes all for $1.00 per item. Good condition too.

I'll be riding that high for the rest of the month.

I desperately need to move back to the city. This small town life is driving me crazy.

You've truly hit middle age when you are scoring bread.

    My day:

Work, where I read books to kids or teach them how to avoid fake news while researching. I also eat Greek yogurt or quinoa at my desk and drink coffee while walking around. I get excited when I walk more than three miles on my building and my watch congratulates me.

Go home, stop by the grocery store on the way if I am out of stuff. Take kids to their activities. Exercise. Make dinner. Wine and The Daily Show. Read.

It's all very interesting, because shut up, it is.

The kids complain about the daily routine and say they want to go and live as Disney World. I tell them if we did that, it wouldn't be special or fun.

    It's a lie :(

I've been a full-time caregiver for my parents for almost 2 years. If the weather didn't change, I'd be living Groundhog Day. There are days I miss the Air Force. Sure, it sucked to live in a sandbox where strangers lobbed mortar rounds at you, but at least I got to fly. I loved the flying. We went somewhere different almost every time. These days, I'm not just stuck in a rut, I'm overlord of the rut. Did I mention that I wish I could go flying?

we got a dog to break up the routine, but he prizes routine more highly than anything except roast chicken stolen off the kitchen counter.

I have a pretty consistent daily routine, and while vacations and stuff like that are fun for breaking it up, I actually like it. Especially the parts of the routine that involve time spent with my kids.

Sounds a bit like my days minus the kids. Of course I mod here as well. Mundane can be good though. I had a stressful year last year and am hoping this one is quieter.

When we were flying missions, we used to say, "Boring is good." But there's also too much of a good thing, right?

I'm using a three monitor setup for the first time in my life, via an old TV.

Most exciting thing to happen in months.

My wife has implemented a three-monitor setup for her home office. It really is that exciting.

Mrs Punk recently attached a second monitor to her macbook, and then spent the remainder of the week thinking she was Alan Turing.

Alan Turing wouldn't have sunk to the level of Mac owner though.

I bought breakfast out this morning, instead of making it at home. I'm already tired and I think I need a nap to recover.

Well yeah, he was a math professor, so he'd be running an outdated version of Red Hat that had his old email software. "As long as it compiles LaTeX properly who even cares?" he'd say, and then his students would never be allowed to upgrade the department's network ever.
