I'm not working right now so I wake up, do chores, sculpt, marathon Lost, go to bed.

 

I played a thrilling game of chess online over the weekend with a person I've never met. No words were exchanged.

I fixed my toilet once, kept a couple of old VW Beetles going back in the late70s/early 80s, but no airplanes.

 

And what would have happened had you not fixed that toilet, Sarge? Hm? Your mom would have pooped in a bag, Sarge. In a bag. And have you ever seen the relationship between Japan and toilets? They revere those things as much as Buddha. Toilets are important.

 

Hmm…. Yeah…. I get up, head to work, if it is a good day I am not at the office until 6 because there is just so much stuff to actually get done, despite it actually making no real difference what I do. Head home by public transport. Every other day I grab my gym gear and spent more time on public transport, do some training, ride the bus back home. Play some games, watch a series or movie, read, do housekeeping and laundry. Then off to bed and back to work on the next day.

On Friday night and most of Saturday it is off to do voluntary work with socially less fortunate people. Sunday I might go out to dinner with friends, or take a long walk.

Somehow the current social highlight in my life is my Pen and Paper group which meets every other week and the occasional cinema trip. Pretty much done with relationships, for like forever, love doesn’t exist anyway and I have become way to too cynical for it these days. Don’t see a point in marrying ever and recent actions have made sure that I will never have kids, nor did I ever want any anyway.

 

I'm not bothered. You could tell if I were bothered. It'd show. You'd be able to tell. That I was bothered. But you can't. Because I'm not. Bothered. It's obvious.

 

Last night I had a dream that I remember, something quite rare. Was it of scoring the winning goal for Liverpool in a cup final? No. Was it of taking Kylie Minogue on a romantic date and then having a romantic night? No.

I dreamed I got a free Nest Thermostat, and was deciding if I wanted to replace my current thermostat as that would mean touching up the wall paint, and I was sure if I could do the wiring myself.

 

The dream is always the same: I've waited too long to add a battery backup to the drain tile system pump, and the basement floods up to my knees in a storm that knocks out the power. The wife and kid give me the recriminating looks. I feel bad.
