Theo Epstein is an absolute genius.

I mean, just ask Atlanta and the Dodgers, nobody gives you more bang for your buck than a cripple like Drew!

Honestly, on paper it sounds great, but he doesn't deal well with media and being under the microscope. Have fun in Boston.

Is this the point where I say "Bye bye Manny"?

I'm not surpised, the media's been expecting this for a while now.

I will be at least moderately surprised if they actually trade Manny, though, because word is that they're asking way too much, and it may be a way to say "see, we tried to trade you", which is kinda what I thought when rumors started again this offseason.

when healthy, Papi-Manny-Drew will be formidable.

of course, chances are, you'll see this quite often on the DL this year: J.D. Drew

Add that to the injury troubles Crisp had last year, and the Red Sox are setting themselves up for a loss by fragility.

Drew had a good, and pretty healthy year in Atlanta three years ago, and another one this year.. I wouldn't take it for granted that he'll be hurt, but I wouldn't be all that surprised, either.

Still a good signing for the Sox, IMO, whether or not they keep Manny.

I hope Crisp is injured, man. We can play Wily Mo in center, where he is at least competent. AND we could shift Lugo or Yook to lead off. Check this line up, without Crisp.

    1. Yook-1b
    2. Lugo-ss
    3. Papi-dh
    4. Manny-lf
    5. Drew-rf
    6. Varitek-c
    7. Lowell-3b
    8. Wily Mo-cf
    9. Dustin Pedrioa-2b

I wouldn't want to face that. Especially if

But the Yankees will still field the best lineup in the AL East (and majors, for that matter).

According to Peter Gammons, it looks like Manny will be staying in Boston, unless somebody offers them a really sweet deal unexpectedly.

So Manny-Ortiz-Drew looks likely, and thats a nice trio there for any batting order.
