Jabba's Age

I apologize if this is something that has been addressed many times before but I have done a search of the forums and couldn't come up with a definitive answer ...

How old is Jabba the Hutt?

And how long is his species' lifespan?

Seeing as he is in both the first and last episodes he has got to be pretty old by the time we get to ROTJ.
Is he hundreds of years old or is he just young in TPM and getting old in ROTJ?

 

Hutts can go to 1000's , I don't know Jabba's exact age though.

I remember reading somewhere that he was around 600 In (ROTJ).... but I can't remember how reliable the source was...

Was there differences in his age apperance as shown in A New Hope

 

I didn't notice a distinct one. I think if there was any apparent change, it may have been from digital vs. rubber from the SE.

 

this is way off subject, but isn't it true that hutts
used to rule the galaxy before the republic formed?

can someone elaberate on this?

 

The Hutts are one of the oldest spacefaring species in the galaxy, and they carved their own little empire out of the Outer Rim.

Sometime between ANH and ROTJ Jabba went through a growth spurt.

 

According to the New Essential Guide to Characters Jabba was around 600 years old when he was killed. I believe this would be considered middle-aged for a Hutt.
