Haven't read this thread yet. I think 2 will be going underwater for most of the film?

I'd actually be surprised if one of these sequels doesn't have Pandoran forces arriving at Earth (perhaps knowing a way to resuscitate the Earth in the hopes that that might lower the need to go to Pandora and other places).

Exploring that cyberpunk Earth Cameron gave us a glimpse of in the Extended Special Edition could sustain an entire film on its own.

A few preview pages can be found here for the forthcoming Avatar comic (which will apparently be taking an anthology approach of stories set before, during and after the events of the movie), which will feature Doug Wheatley art goodness.

This commercial during the Oscars last night, especially the ending, was so creepy:

That animatronic footage at the end was used before in an earlier promo reel but it's still very impressive.

Pandora and the GFFA, together at last in theme park form. Now if the Tolkien heirs will just sign off on Middle Earth Orlando we can call it on Peak Amusement Park.

Impressive... but the way the music was building, and how she just popped up out of nowhere, with those still-imperfect facial movements, and what she said.... it's like they unintentionally made one of those old screamer videos where there's a car going down a road and then some scary demon pops up out of nowhere.

I wanted humanity to win. Well if A2 is anything like TESB, humans will win in the second movie.

Well, now that they've officially entered production, the release dates have more weight to them than the previous estimates.

I wonder what that 3 year gap is for.

2 years for filming and then 1 year for FX?

They're filming all 4 at once. The gap is probably for post production work and to spread the releases out a bit so the public interest doesn't get flooded by them.

Also gives them a window to do reshoots/course corrections for those final films based on response to the first two.

After two billion-dollar movies, they're just letting James Cameron do whatever the heck he wants, even if it makes no sense. Didn't they also pay for him to explore the deep ocean in a submarine, the deepest a human ever went, and to mine an asteroid, all for "research" for these sequels?

With everyone predicting its failure, Avatar 2 will end up making 5 billion dollars. It'll be the Brexit/Trump election/Le Pen election of cinema.

Spellman is coming back now too. So, we have pretty much the whole cast from the first film at this point except maybe Ribisi's character and Dr. Patel? The latter stayed on Pandora (and was part of one of the cooler unfinished deleted scenes).

Just found this thread, and noticed this post at the bottom of the first page:

    In retrospect, this is hilarious.

Is it really need to be called "Avatar" anymore? Jake's uploaded already. that ain't an Avatar, it's his body.
