I just read a blurb from an interview that
James Luceno is in negotiatians with Lucasbooks and his publisher to write
another SW book. But he can't divulge what
the project is or where it fits into the
scheme of things. Could it be the final
NJO hardcover or the planned bridge novels
set between Episodes II & III or a novel set
in an unexplored era of the SW timeline?

The blurb can be found right here in the
    Books section at TFN.

It could be anywhere in the timeline. We have no evidence.

If I had to guess, I'd say Rebellion Era or Rise of the Empire Era again.

    Yep.

    Or... Ep3 novelization?

Plus, we don't know if it'll go through or not. I hope so.

Or maybe it could be the first post-NJO
novel? Who knows? The possibilities are
endless! I think it's going to happen.

I would agree that James would be ideal to do an Ep. III novelization. After reading Cloak, he'd be perfect, since I suspect a good portion of Episode III will be politically based.

I'd like to see another book from him. I'm really liking Cloak of Deception (I'm currently reading it). :)

I would love to see another prequel era
novel from Luceno. He did a good job with
COD. I suspect it might be the bridge novels
between Episode II & III. He could be a
perfect writer to cover the Clone Wars.

The Clone Wars begin at the end of Episode II
and end in Episode III. So Luceno could write
about the Clone wars in between. He might do
    a good job.

I hope he would do the first post NJO book. One author doing two prequal era books seems to much. They should share the wealth of the prequals.

Well I don't think they will be making anything past NJO for a while as it is still the area that the sequels will go if they happen. Lucas has still told authors to steer clear of that era. Ep 3 Novelisation I thought was Alan Dean Foster, yeah I know he wrote The Approaching Storm but I heard he was also doing the novelisation. Their is apparently two bridge novels between Eps 2 and 3 so he could be one of them or maybe a sequel of Ep 3. A sort of bridge between Eps 3 and 4. Their is 20 years there that can be explored heaps

Lucas has said numerous times he won't be
doing Episodes 7-9. Sad as I am to say this
but I hope he changes his mind.

But there's no reason why there can't be
post-NJO books with Luceno doing the first
one. They would likely be about the
rebuilding of the galaxy after the long
terrible confict with the Yuzzhan Vong and
the exploration of the Unknown Regions and
the Solo children becoming Jedi Masters with
Ben Skywalker as their padawan learner.

I wrote in a previous thread that Aaron
Allston should write the first post-NJO
book. But Luceno could be a perfect writer
    for it as well.

All we have is conjecture until the end of the NJO series. And we have no idea what could go in between AotC and Episode III. It could be novels, or 2 trilogies for all we know. And Foster writing EpIII was just a rumor, although one I'd to see come true.

    Let's wait and see.

I still think it could be an NJO book or a
prequel era book. I think Luceno would be
awesome to write the final NJO hardcover.

He gives good descriptions of space battles
    in the AOC duology.

Here's another idea:it could be an NJO
epilogue novel where the galaxy rebuilds
itself after the Vong wars. And Luke & co.
pass the torch on to their children as heroes
of the galaxy. The book could be out in the
fall of 2004 since the last NJO hardcover
would be out in the fall of 2003.

Well Luceno can't say what the project is
right now and he did say that he is in
    negotiations with his publisher and
Lucasbooks regarding another SW project. It
makes you wonder. It could be soon or a month
or so from now. Who knows? I'm excited about
    it! Are you?

We already have a line up for a whole year. Of course most authors are gonna wanna right more Star Wars if their original projects were a success. First Micheal Reaves says hes in talks to do a series, then Greg Keyes is trying to write some short stories for Gamer, and now James Luceno is talking to do yet another project. This dosn't mean any of them will go through. Although I hope so.

Here's a couple of highlights from that
interview with James Luceno at EW'S Temple.

It can be found right here at the Books
    Section at TFN.

'Cloak of Deception' leads us to the events
of Episode I as well as includes some hints
regarding Episode II. Because of this, the
    book provides very important information.
What made you to decide to write this novel
which directly evolves to the movies?

Luceno:From my first viewing of THE PHANTOM
MENACE I hoped that someone would write a
novel providing backstory on the Trade Federation and the Jedi, in their role as
the guardians of peace and justice in the
Old Republic. I was thrilled to be given the
chance to do just that. Certain elements and
some of the characters featured in CLOAK are
the result of decisions made by George Lucas
and the editors who oversee the STAR WARS
novels. Just after I completed CLOAK, I was
allowed to read the script for Episode II:
ATTACK OF THE CLONES. To Provide CLOAK with
continuity not only to THE PHANTOM MENACE,
but also to "Episode II", I rewrote some of
the scenes in CLOAK to include certain
senators and other characters who are slated
to play important roles to the prequel films.
I don't know at the time if or how much of
what I included would be permitted. But in
the end, I wasn't asked to remove anything
from the final draft of CLOAK.

We all eagerly anticipate your next novel.
Do you have any plan to write another bridge
novel or New Jedi Order series?

Luceno:I am currently in discussion with my
publisher and with Lucasfilm regarding another SW project. Unfortunately I'm not at
liberty just now to divulge the nature of
the project, or where it fits into the scheme
    of things.

Well there you have it! Somethings gonna happen. I can feel it!

I think it would be fun if Luceno did another
SW novel set set in the era of the Rebellion
but 1 month after ROTJ featuring Luke,Han and
Leia and dealing with the signing of the
declaration of the NR. That would be good to
    see how the NR formed.

You, mean the alliance of free planets? That was already covered in marvel, and later Truce at bakura sourcebook.

Still it would be good if there were a novel
that would deal with what Luke,Han and Leia
did during the events of the Rogue Squadron
books. They went their seperate ways:Luke
went to go look for Jedi artifacts,Leia was
running the NR and Han was chasing the Imperial Remnant. It would be fun if Luceno
did a novel dealing with these events in that
time period and the guy who runs The Ultimate
SW Timeline suggested there should be such a
book set 4-8 years after ANH and dealing with
those exact events. I couldn't agree more.
Luceno would be perfect for such a novel.

I'm kinda tired of Luke, Leia and Han novels, especially in the Classic and New Republic time periods. I mainly want to see the Rise of the Empire Era open up. There's about 50 years of good stories in there alone.

Anyone consider the possibility that the NJO series ENDS with the Vong taking over and living in the known universe, and that the refugees flee the galaxy and have to go into the unexplored part of space, where the Chiss are from?

Maybe the post-NJO books could be about the
Vong now running the galaxy and refugees are
living in Chiss space. I hope Luceno does a
post-NJO book. Maybe he'll do the first one.

    I love the idea SithSpit777!!
