I know Disney has deemed all previous SW literature non-canon, but there's one author with several works which I feel enrich the SW universe too much to be discarded, and that's James Luceno. The books of his I think should be kept are Cloak of Deception, Labyrinth of Evil, Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader, and Darth Plagueis.

Dark Lord could conflict with their plans for Rebels and everything else you mentioned could conflict with TCW. What Rebels decides that Kanan is the only Order 66 survivor or that Vader emerged earlier?

I doubt it will happen. There are plenty of things that are inoffensive and basically stick entirely to their own little corner of the universe (eg Shadow Games) that all got the can too.

I'm sure we'll see a lot of that stuff still crop up, but yeah, they've just abandoned any pretense of trying to make it fit together anymore to do things their way.

But then, was it really that different before? Once upon a time, there was this wooden battleship until...

i agree. His works fit in well with what Disney wants to focus on. I aslo think the past novelizations should stay canon.

TPTB probably mean the entirety of the EU, but mostly it's the post-RotJ EU which is being completely discarded -- the rest remains safe until films come out which contradict them. All of the books you've mentioned will still fit great within the context of the films. Luceno worked directly with George Lucas to ensure that Darth Plagueis fit with his vision, I see it (and the other books you mention) as canon regardless if Disney says it is or not.

I doubt they'll have Vader emerging only a couple of years before ANH.

They'd probably end up sparing only those works by one T.Denning.

Luceno's writing one of the first new books. I'm sure he'll reference what he can , subject to the limitations of character knowledge and the narrative.

Sent from a loaner phone with horrid autocorrect. Expect lots of errors.

I just watched through the whole series, including the final episode, and I don't remember it. I'm fairly certain it's not in the final episode.

I was thinking it was the part where
    he absorbs Windom Earle...

But personally, I highly recommend the movie if you like the weird stuff and are prepared for the not-so-family-friendliness of it...

    Anyway, sorry, off topic.

I've seen the film, I have it on DVD somewhere, I just haven't seen it in about a decade. I've seen a few of Lynch's films. I want to watch Inland Empire.
