I have one main question I've always wondered about:

Was Jango's head in his helmet when Boba holds it after the battle in the arena?

    And a side question:

    Was Jango's death necessary?

Half of your topic was stolen from mine! :p

If you look closely, you can see Jango Fett's head fly out of his helmet before it hits the ground. Thus, Boba picked up only the helmet not the helmet and his head.

And YES his death was necessary! In the script, anyways. :p

Beat me to it. And I think he had to die to give the good guys a win, since Dooku gets away. But I don't like how Mace kills him. Far too aggressive for a Jedi, especially since they wanted to bring him back and question him. And I really think Lucas missed an opportunity here. Jango was the basis for the Clonetroopers but he was fighting on the side of the Separatists. He should have been killed by a whole bunch of his own clones. A nice bit of irony that would've been.

I think he died much too soon and much too abruptly.

I don't know... we needed to see SOMEbody die, but..

Definitely too abrupt. Mace and Jango fought for like 10 seconds.

They shoulda had him kill a few more jedi before he died.

I like abrupt deaths. What I don't like is when a movie gives you exactly what you expect.
There must be a point with Boba not being the clone template. Maybe the Republic will be needing more clones but can't get them, since the template is dead.
Other than that, the only reason for Jango's death that I can think of is that Boba needs motivation for becoming a bounty hunter.

    Boba Fett's life is sad

If a Jedi were he, in eight pieces Jango would have been.

Jango was cool, I wish he would have gotten to fight a little more.

Yes his death was necessary, and I think his head came out of the helmet.

They actually answered this in an issue of insider about a year ago. What the others are saying is right, You can see the shadow of something fall out of the helmet if you pause the movie.
