I watched AotC and having figured out the infamous Binks is to blame for Palpatine's rise to Chancellor, i started wondering about Jar Jar's speech: "Vote for emergency power to da sewpreem chansala".

At first, I thought Jar Jar was being himself; dumb and stupid and not knowing what he was doing. But then I watch ROTS and how the Senate applauded palpy when he basically said "Now I'm going to screw you and make the Empire".

I now think Jar Jar was being controlled by Palpy. His mind isn't all that great so Palpy could have easily used a mind trick. Besides, Palpy set up Jar Jar as the Naboo representative in the first place. Otherwise he wouldn't be allowed even in the visitor's box :D

So was the clueless Gungan being controlled using Sith mind tricks? Or was he dumb enough to hand Palpatine the senate on a silver platter?

Jar Jar did what he thought was right, not to mention he pressured into doing so by "If only Senator Amidala were here" stuff... it's not Jar Jars fault for being a mindless idiot... it's the way he is.

Or was it all an elaborate ruse?
Perhaps Palpatine is under Jar-Jar's control!

    "Wesa have a Grand Army!"
"We shall create a Grand Army of the republic!"

Put that in your noodle and bake it!

I think Palpy was under the control of Jar Jar. Someone that stupid is clearly evil. Or, yes, JJ was under Palpy's control. JJ served the Dark Side very well.

Jar Jar was a victim of the system.... I mean, it was obvious that Mas Amedda was Palpy's buddy, so when they had the chance they played with Jar Jar's stupid mind: "If only senator Amidala were here"... so Jar Jar was forced to belive that senator Amidala would be happy with the Emergency Powers...
Or... maybe Jar Jar is really Plagueis' apprentice....:D

That's it. The ultimate in irony. The dumbest character ever to grace the SW universe is actually Plagueis the Wise!

"Or was he dumb enough to hand Palpatine the senate on a silver platter?"

And I suppose it didn't cross your mind that Jar Jar thought the was doing the right thing at the time. Did it occur to you that nobody knew Palpatine was a Sith Lord, hmm?

Yeah, Jar Jar was dumb and irritating alright, but he was no more fooled by Palpatine than many so called wise folk like senators and jedi. Big brains or not they all got played like fiddles.

He wouldn't need a mind trick to fool Jar Jar, people with low IQs are generally very susceptible to suggestion

He was manipulated by his wanting to do the right thing. If he was dumb, Padme would not have him to represent Naboo in the senate.

He was fooled into it, just like Padme in TPM, he manipulated her to vote the exciting Chancellor off
A vote of no confidence, which lead to Palpatin becoming the new chancellor so are u saying Padme is stupid as well

I do think Ja Ja is stupid but he was fooled
