[JCC]New social threads in the JC

In the current system it was garunteed to live for a month

If no-one posted in it for a week or so, we'd most likely cycle onto the next in the list. However, in each case the social thread has remained popular and active.

 

That makes sense.

 

18 pages in 29 days. Most groups are lucky to have 118 posts in that amount of time. I'm sure you can multiply 25 posts x 118 pages

Snowball, that's not even the fastest social group on the JC.

The Blue Moon Cantina in EUC has racked up 194 pages at 50 ppp (they're at 9690 posts as I type this) since March 26th, which is 28 (-ish, I could be doing my math wrong) days ago.

Malkie, you know the reason the Knights want their own thread. The 3SA GIL will be no longer after ROTS. Everybody from that thread is a Knight or social friends with us. You can't deny that is thread for "regulars". It's like cheers in there. Everybody knows your name. Why not help out the most active posters on this site?

 

That's defintely something to think about, but the knights still have some life left to them over in 3sa. I'm sure you'll find a place for yourselves. The JC, is definitely an idea, but maybe you guys could even be housed in the movies community forum, or even in the prequil forum.

I agree. GIL means Get in line. After ROTS comes out, what are gonna get in line for. It'll be nice to have a thread where we could congregate like the GIL in 3SA.

I think the 3SA will be around for a long time after the release of ROTS to discuss reaction to the movie. I doubt the GIL thread will be locked the instant the movie opens (it's not literal [b]MariahJSkywalker[/b]) meaning you'll have that thread for a long time.

You still haven't explained why you should have your thread over the guy who is next in line ? There's every chance his thread will be every bit as popular as yours was - and he's entitled to that because he's waited his turn.

You said JC. If you meant JCC, say JCC. If you meant JCC/3SA, say that. I fully understand your point, but it's misleading to use superlatives when you're wrong.

 

Just use the existing social threads. SO what if it's not named after your group.

Let me bold the important part from a previous post of yours: fastest moving thread in the JC besides. You've been given one example and I know of more that are quicker (even if they die after a week).

Oh, you actually think that this is even mildly true. If you are going to plead your case for a creation of a double standard in the rules, at least try to attempt it by doing it with facts, not some trumped up sense of the self importance of a group that ultimately means nothing.

My bad, I get those movies mixed up sometimes. Point is the guy who said "[i]Go get your shoe shine box[/i]" met a very grizzly end, because the comments he made were extremely patronising and inflammatory. I can't see how anyone could ever consider saying that as "funny".

 

I get casino and Goodfellas mixed up sometimes, too. Go get your ******* shine box! is a drop bit that is played all the time on our lcal sports talk radio here. So it is probably funnier to me than the person I directed it to. Malkie, you know I would never intend to offend another user here at your great site. That would break the TOS.

ok, so [i]Goodfellas[/i] references aside, what are you main reasons for allowing a permanent Knight's thread over the next guy on the waiting list ?

 

I'll try to give you several reasons.

1. We are a very well organized group of close to 60 members and growing. There is a reason the GIL is so fast paced and loved. Us.

2. We will have no place to post after ROTS.

3. Any other group this large has their own thread in the JCC. Why are we punished, because we are not pre-bs new rules?

4. You saw how our thread was. It is not like the other social/flirt threads. Not one time did you see, "*hugs*, *Sits on couch and holds John's hand.*". None of that cheesy stuff that brings the JC down.

5. All of the old social groups besides the BYS, Fecal Force, and Shadow Sith Army are dead. You may see an old group pop up for 3 posts every few weeks. Not us. You would never see a Knights thread on page 6 much less page 2. Plus with a perm move to the JCC we will just be growing even more. A lot of the funny posters I want as Knights are spoiler free and don't go in the 3SA.

We have been around long enough. We are well respected (not by the MS) and I think the average JC'er would enjoy seeing our posting style being brought out in one dedicated thread. Just throw away this waiting list excuse. That whole system is lame. The bottom line is, what damage will it do to give us a thread?

As you know there has always been tention between the MS and the Knights. I understand that, because we are not a helpful G rated group like the DL's.b I can think of no better way to bury this axe than to give us our own thread.

Can't we let the next person on the list have their own social thread, and just create the Knight thread independently? I'm sure the that the Knight thread would still be around long after the other social thread disappears.

 

I don't want the knights to fade away from tfn once 3sa is closed down. HAve you looked into getting a perminate spot in the star wars comunity or in the prequil board? I know that it sucks having your thread closed down and not having it reopened, but it's definitely something to consider.

The 3SA isn't closing down the second ROTS opens - right now there are no plans to close it.

The next guy in the lists thread could be every bit as successful as the Knight's thread was, and you honestly haven't given us a reason why we should go with you, and not give him a chance. (or alternatively why you should get a permanent thread, but he shouldn't).

There are plenty of existing social groups on the JCC to cover every style and taste - I know you have a good relationship with the BYS - why not post in their thread ?

 

Malkie, we have talked about this. The BYS thread is theirs. The FF thread is theirs. If we started posting in the Awesome Council you would ban us all for derailing the thread.

Forget this waiting list for a minute. We don't want a social thread with our name on it. We want our own thread. What harm would it cause to give us a thread? By having us bunched together it would make it easier on you when you come to ban us. I'm sure you saw the PM's Sape sent to me. We know we are not liked here, but don't lock us out.

You never answered my question from yesterday. How come threads that are inactive for a bit are locked or deleted, but social groups not? Why can't we take the place of an inactive group?
