With the results I understand that there are a lot of JCC:ers looking for other places to live in. In this thread us non-US JCC:ers can present what we have to offer if you want to move.

I'll start.

I can offer a nice middlesized town in central Sweden. It includes almost free health care (you still have to pay the first $200 on your medical bills, but once you have reached $200 you don't pay anything more for the rest of the year). Generous pareantall leave, that needs to be shared by both parents and a feminist party that even if it hasn't gotten into the parliament yet they have some local influence and they get enough attention in the media that the other parties also have to work with feminist issues. Almost everyone speaks English and most of our TV is imported as well so you won't miss your favorite TV-shows or films.

The downside is high taxes, a right-wing/populist/racist/islamophobic party that has around 15% of the vote and the weather. I'm enjoying the snow outside my window right now and think it's cozy with just a couple hours of daylight in the winter, but that might be hard if you are not used to it. Swedes are also quite bad when it comes to service or personal contact.

Also I live only 1 hour drive from Gävle, so you will have a chance to influence the outcome of Gävle Goat watch thread.

With every passing year, people in the UK become increasingly fat and stupid.

We have free health care for now but with ~5% of the population suffering from type 2 diabetes and close to 10% of the health budget spent on treating them with a metformin stack and foot amputations instead of a dose of 'stop eating **** and go for a 30 minute walk' it won't last long.

Our education system is ****ed, racism and xenophobia are rife, there's a possibility that we'll **** ourselves by opting out of the european single market and history is no longer a compulsory subject at school but we do have the history channel, with it's fine documentaries about aliens and a pawn shop.

Guns are very rare and you probably won't get asked if you want cheese with that but, otherwise, I think you'd all feel quite comfortable here.

Well more than 15% of Swedes also like eating rotten fish, and you need to be able to eat all kinds of pickled herring to fit in.

Is that better?

I have a place to live in Austria, but no job. If we could turn it into some kind of commune and everyone could help in raising my younger child and puppy, and we could expand the JCC Gardening Club a bit, maybe we can make it work.
