With the release of Jedi Academy now days away the community is gearing itself up for the next round of modding. One thing that will be missing this time around (for the most part anyway) is modelling. For those who are unaware Jedi Outcast models are directly compatible with Academy so there is no need for brand new models.

The object of this post is to provide links to a whole host of models that are already out there to make the community aware of them before the Academy release. This is useful for those who didn't purchase JK2 and those who did, as there may be a few models you haven't picked up. Anyway down to business.

Sweet, I'll have to go get a bunch of those.

More links you'll be able to use in JA from the old JO Download stuff thread.

Ooooo, the Mace one looks awesome! I'll have to get that one. :D

One question though, I don't have JO so I am wondering if you get to use these models for single player, multiplayer, or both? Thanks!

Multiplayer primarily. But people did manage to create patches to use them in single player.

IIRC we will be able to use these models as-is with JA...

    That Obi Wan definately is.

The Yun will depend on which n game model it was skinned on and if that model is available in multiplayer.

Download it then unzip it using Winzip or another suitable program. Extract the .pk3 file(s) into your base directory.

Most of them have botfiles. The Jar-Jar one certainly works.

Modelling and skinning kit has now been released by Raven.

    - A models and skinning guide from JK2 with a new introduction for JA.
    - Unpainted skins for many of the models.
    - Modview.exe to view models.
    - Skeleton information for the main humanoids and other creatures and ships. (this is really only useful to the l33t modelers who have figured out our crazy gla files. :) but it should help by declaring the bone names and hierarchy.)

The toolkit is free to download. It's at the link in the post before yours, and at all the usual JO / JA sites.

Quick question. Will JO skins work too? I have a mix of both models and skins for JO and thought maybe I could take them and use for JA rather than searching dling a bunch I might already have.

Yeah. JO Models work in JA, and skins will work if the default JA model is the same name & shape as the original JO version. They may also work if the JO default model is included in the pk3, which I think is the case in most skins.

I've been led to believe that all the JO default models have been included in multiplayer. Not sure though, won't have it until tomorrow.

I could have a full FAQ by the end of the weekend if I have the time to write one out.

Correct. All the skins from JO MP have been included in JA MP. Also, JA custom MP models and skins work as-is in JA MP.

However, dispite my very limited efforts, I have not yet learned how to replace the player in SP with a custom character. There will be way down the line for sure :) The player can be replaced, however, with NPCs from the SP game using the playermodel console command.

Ok, I have a question. Earlier today I was playing with Mace and Dooku, and it worked fine. But then tonight I went back and DLed a bunch of other skins, like maybe 10 or so. So I started up the game, I checked profile on the main menu first, and all the skins were there. Then I went to play, and the skins weren't there! None of them are there when I'm playing, only the normal ones. It sucks. They show up in my profile, but they're not there when I'm actually in a game. It was working fine before when I just had Mace and Dooku. I thought that it may be because I have too many installed. Is that possible?

Any help is GREATLY appreciated! :D

I can't remember specifically but I think it's to do with whether a server is pure or not. If it's a pure server no mods are allowed, even skins and models, as certain skins can gain an advantage.

This is probably listed somewhere obvious, but I'd like very much to use the JO MP maps in JA.

They're not included and I can't find any single directory where they're stored, so I can only assume they're in one of the big game files.

I'm a huge fan of Nar Shaddaa and none of the new maps compare :(
