Yeah- I think she's right. I don't think it is below the knee, but it's not above it either. I think the top comes to just a little less than halfway up the kneecap.

Hmmm, good observation. I think I'll do it in two parts and rivet the top on. Geez, I don't even have the table built yet and I'm thinking about how the armor fits together :p

Whoa! Multiple users on the board! Brain overload! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I need an oil bath :p

Hey- it never hurts to think ahead!

Sorry if we're stressing you out. :) Lady_Eldaelen and I are just sitting here in our room conquering the boards. It sure beats writing up a physics lab report! ;)

LOL! The image of you two sitting like 3 feet apart posting on the board almost laughed me out of my chair! My roommate and I used to do that with AIM when we lived in McKay. It was great fun.

I wouldn't worry too much...I'll just jump on my floor and the two of them will hear me pounding. Or I could just go the bathroom and flush. You have got to love the residence halls!

    No Ninja killing today please.

*In his best Vader voice* 'Proceed with the flushing Commander! And bring me the prisoners, I want them alive!'

Ninja huh? I'll throw 15 years of martial arts against that anyday :D

    Hi ho,
Found some plasticine clay...check out Southern Paint and Supply at 239 S Segrave Street (253-8107), near the intersection of ISB and Ridgewood.

Once I get the body cast, I use the clay to form out what the armor looks like, then I make a cast of that which is the negative, then make another cast, which is the positive, and that's what I vaccu-form. Don't worry Padawan, in time you will learn the ways of Vaccu-Forming :)

Oooo, and after class I went on a tangent and got all of the parts I needed for my table. All in all it was only about $130, including vac, so I was happy. I got the 3.5 HP, but for an extra $20 I could have gotten the 5 HP. I'm going to see how this works though.

You notice that a lot of those parts are snowtrooper armor?

Hey all! The pics of my adventures in vaccu-forming are starting to flow. I got the box done today (unfortunatly my launch got rained out :_| ) and I should get the frame and first set of casts done tomorrow. I found a bunch of nice quality fiberglass in the ERFSEDS lab [face_devil] I also have most of my saber case, version 2, done :) Check out the DBFF site (first link in my sig) for the pics.

Woohoo! Both my saber case and vac table are done! Gotta love rain. Makes ya stay in the house and get stuff done :p I even threw in a paint job on one of my computers :D The only problem with my vac-table is that it's a tad on the small side, so things like chest armor and thigh armor will probably have to be done in two pieces, but I hear a lot of the 501st guys do it that way anyway. :)

OMG, this has turned out to be a lot more time consuming than I thought. I figured on having the shin armor and shoulder armor casted today, or at least ready to cast, but I am still working on the clay mold for the bottom part of the shins! Jayna, when you're ready to do this, I would say devote the weekend :p Or most of the summer ;)

I've realized that the plasticine clay is just the normal clay you can get in craft stores. It's the kind that doesn't harden when left out. Duh...I feel kinda dumb. But, I've never seen the recommended 50 lbs of it in one spot before!

I might have to borrow your vac table to make some decent Padme pouches!
