I'm not an official Lafayette member yet, but I just relocated here due to hurricane, etc. In hte past year or so i've learned how to make jedi belts/pouches. I think it'd be fun to hold a workshop if anyone is interested....i'm not sure how much it'd cost to participate, but i wouldnt try to make any money off of it. the one problem i see is obtaining "buckles" for the front of the belt...as they are usuall found items....though they can be purchased.

My belts were destryoed so i'll be making a new one anyway....

Let me know if you are interested...maybe swampsurfer would want to set something up.

That is a wonderful idea. Let me know what kind of buckles we need. Maybe we can do them in resin or something. Do you have any pics of your work?

http://www.theyrenotdolls.com/ --> click on Costumes then look at either belt. I've done a couple others...no pics, though.

Here's a pic from Celebration III
    [IMG]

i'm going to try and estimate the cost of a belt...not including the buckles...I got all but one of my buckles from pairs of women's shoes. Walmart has buckles similar to the other one i found.

For the Wide belt, narrow belt, rivets, snaps, dye....it will be about 48 bucks...not a bad price considering how much i spent on tools, etc.
I'm glad there's some interest...let me know what you think.
Anybody want to talk to swampsurfer to set this up?

Those belts look awesome! Its good to see someone else who collects props.=D= I have lots of lightsabers a couple of blasters and stormtrooper armor.

If a lot of people want to do this, I have a 1500 sq ft workshop we can get together at

I live in Cecilia. It's about 18 miles East of Lafayette on I-10. Maybe that's a little too far for some.

I don't really have pics of my props on the net but this old one.

My collection has changed a lot since.

hey if yall want to make a meeting out of this please do so. just plan the meeting and give the details on this thread so others can get the info. i will try to pass an email to the other members when everything is finalized. also Poseidon11 mentioned to me he had a workshop behind his house and i think he wants to show off his sabers he made. so a suggestion i have is to have the jedi belt workshop and the saber display at poseidon11 workshop. just a thought i had.

    yeah...that's the idea.
We'll have to work out a few kinks....give me an email, or phone call.

    We need to work out:
    A. how to purchase supplies.
    B. What to use for buckles.

I found a source for the Anakin ROTS buckles. They are $2.40 each. I have a choice of 3/4" contoured, 1" contoured, or 1" flat. Which ones do we need? I'll make the order if you want.

sorry for not replying earlier....i managed to acquire several (8 to be exact) anakin replica buckles. If sometime this spring we can get this together, i'd be willing to part with some of them. they look pretty realistic. I'll have to post pics if i get a chance.
