Mods: I didn't know where else to place this, so please move it if this is not the right place.

Looking as Anakin, I was wondering if he was really cut out to be a Jedi. If he had what it took.

Yes, he had the Force potential & all that, but he had some really serious issues that he just couldn't get past.
So, maybe Anakin should have stuck to pod racing instead?

knobi's answer for everything lately :p

well it kind of depends whether you believe in the prophecy or not,

if you do, then no, he shouldn't have stayed home pod racing

if you don't then, maybe he shouldn't have gone with Qui-Gon,

though being a slave wouldn't have been very nice

If he had started the training at an earlier age, maybe he'd have been OK. Starting at age 9 with his various issues, as you say, it was much more difficult for him to accept the Jedi way. Maybe it would have been better if he had been trained outside the Jedi Order.

We all have issues. I think Anakin was "cut out to be a Jedi" just not as they saw it. The Jedi Order shows what can happen when you try to stifle emotions and issues and their tenets became more damaging than empowering. This, in part, was their undoing. I think Luke's New Jedi Order was better.

I think it's pretty obvious, he wasn't. At least not with the Order as it existed at the time. He'd have had a better chance with Luke's New Order.

Jolee Bindo would have been a good master for him. He'd have made a great "Gray" Jedi, and he might have turned out that way if Qui-Gon hadn't been killed.

So, maybe he would have done better is Luke's NJO?

I've often wondered why the Jedi didn't pair him with a more experienced Master. OB1 was a fresh Knight. Just out of Padawan hood. Maybe Anakin should have stayed with a more experienced Master for a few years or more. I wonder if that would have helped.

It was because Obi-wan interpreted Qui-Gon's last words "Train him" very literally- assuming he had to train him, rather than simply ensure he was trained.

"I will train him. Without the approval of the Council if I must" he says in TPM.

"I thought that I could instruct him just as well as Yoda" he says in RoTJ.

But couldn't the Jedi have overruled him?
