I have contacted Dr. Barber, a Buddhist instructor, and am making arrangements for him to provide us with some basics in Zen, chi, and meditation; all useful Jedi traits and skills.

We wear the trappings of the Jedi, we may fight like the Jedi, but this can be imitated. Without a grounding in "the force" we are just dancing.

Let me know if you are interested and I will work with him to arrange times and locations.

Dr. Barber has gotten back to me regarding the Mediation class. He says that he "would be happy to teach you group meditation the way of getting in tune with the force."

    How cool is that?

He has suggested a two night course over a couple of weeks with an estimated cost of $20 per person.

I would so be into that. Hopefully I won't have to work on those days. I have taken a number of different meditation types of classes and they were all interesting.

God knows I could use some inner peace. Please add me to the list of those interested. And by the way - I'm back! (And France has a lot less wine and cheese that it had 3 weeks ago).

I can attend the second one, but not the first. Would this be a problem?

Dr. Barber said that the first class would outline some of the basics, and then the weeks in between are for us to practice them. The second class would be what he called "higher instructions."

I'm sure it's true that you will get more out of it by attending both lessons, but you won't be turned away.

RogueNine - Well, considering this is the first time we've done this sort of thing, it's hard to tell if we'll start another series again. We'll have to see how this one goes first.

One has to understand that we're a relatively "new" group (having only really gotten off the ground in March of this year) and we're trying some stuff out.

I hope lots of people can make it to this. I'm starting to get excited for it.

I just slipped on the sidewalk outside my place, and got a big hipper. At least I don't need to ICE it, lol. Looks like a won't make it to meditation tonight, since I really don't feel like walking for 15 minutes on each end of a 20 minute CTrain ride. Have fun guys, let me know how it goes.

ShatirLavan - Let me just say that I know exactly what you're going through (a couple winters back, I slipped on the ice and landed DIRECTLY on my right buttock/hip, not having any chance to brace my fall... I was out of commission for a couple days, and I'm still extra nervous when walking around on icy days like today). Ironically, icing your injury is the best thing you could do! Get well soon.

I enjoyed myself tonight, and couldn't help but picture Mace Windu sitting in the meditation room with Yoda, or Obi Wan contemplating the Force... then I brought myself back to the moment and started back at 1...

MagpieJen, Lexial, DrHaggis, and DarthJaeger were there too, for anyone interested in whom else was there.

    Thoughts?

The class went well, I think.

The second session is on Wednesday the 23rd. Dr Barber said attending the second one only would pose no problems. Come one, come all!

    *Bump*

Just a reminder that we have the second class of Jedi meditation this Wed, the 23rd.

Come on out, even if you missed the first lesson!
