Aw, I was hoping I'd get to make the "I remember this when it was a Dark Horse comic" post.

Was that the one with Sora Bulq, and others try to create a split in the Jedi Order? K'khruk and others were sitting out, Bulq was working with Dooku already and trying to turn them to the Separatists?

It also has a line of dialogue that Lucas put into ROTS. Also, it's the first appearance of Ventress.

Padme's "This war represents a failure to listen." I think Jeisel said it in the comic.

Did that explicitly get confirmation? I'd be more than willing to believe he read the comic, but it's not exactly an uncommon sentiment about wars.

I just hope when/if this series gets a second arc Marvel don't go the predictable route and make Jedi of The Republic-Yoda

Aaaaaand again, another Marvel SW comic NOT by Ostrander/Duursema :(

That said, I'm looking forward to this and would like to see a cameo by K'Kruhk and Sian Jeisel [face_praying] They had an appearance in the Legends counterpart of this comic, so why not include them in this one?

I immediately thought of this comic. How long ago did it come out? 2002-ish? 15 years ago? Time flies...

You need to remember though Steve it takes a much bigger audience to make a movie successful than it does to make a book successful. They needed to make a movie that was fun to watch as well. A lot of people aren't huge fans of war films in general so putting some things in the film to get those people to want to come watch was necessary.

Well, I don't think it's that big of a stretch, considering:
    • That exact wording isn't exactly a common phrase.
    • The comic came out in February 2003, when (at least going by How Star Wars Conquered the Universe) Lucas was still working on the half-done ROTS script.
    • Again, going from How Star Wars Conquered the Universe, Lucas really struggled writing the ROTS script, so it makes sense he would work in something he liked from elsewhere.
    • We know Lucas read the comics, and there are three other comics references in ROTS (Aayla, Quinaln, Tsui Choi).
So it seems pretty evident that that specific line from the movie came from that specific line from the comic.

Please cite this. Especially given Rogue One was explicitly inspired by Zero Dark Thirty and has multiple references to Apocalypse Now in it, neither of which are exactly unknown or compromising on war.

I'd be fine with that. Gimme comics on each of the Council members! Maybe we can finally see what becomes of Eeth Koth :D

Well just for starters Zero Dark Thirty grossed under a 100 million domestic and only about a 130 million worldwide. Arguably one of the most popular war films ever made (Saving Private Ryan) made under 250 million domestic (a number that would be bordering on being unacceptable for a Star Wars movie that costs probably about 500 million to create when you add in all the marketing expenses).

Wait, what? That means a Star Wars film would have to make 1 million just to break even (the rule is twice a film's budget is the profit line). There is no way it cost 500 million to create.

No Star Wars movie has cost $500 million, because the only movies to cost that much are the next two Avengers movies, which were budgeted as a single movie split into two with a billion total for production.

Maybe it is closer to 400 mill then when you add in all the marketing.

Not including Marketing. Plus I don't think the 200 m encompassed all the reshoots they did.

But they even have different skin colors. They need to be different characters, IMO.

I still want Koth to be like Catch-22's Doc Daneeka to Star Wars. Peering through the windows. Hiding in the bushes.
