Goodmorning to everybody (Or afternoon to those of you in the UK).

I had a bit of a question for you guys(and girls). What kind of material is Obi-Wan Kenobi's brown robe made out of in ANH?

I thought it was felt at first, but upon closer look, it isn't felt. So I thought about wool, but wool seems to be to.. flexible and flowing to be right.

Any of you know what was used or have any ideas?

    Its wool.

In fact I do believe its from WW2 era wool blankets. However any wool will work. The trick is to prepare it properly. That will give it the right look, and make it breathe correctly.

Talk to Arsinoe. She knows all the tricks and the proper construction method.

like you couldn't have mentioned this before i went fabric shopping yesterday, in Toronto? If you want we can go hunting together sometime, there are some really good stores on Queen, u have a few good ones in Hamilton too....

i think it is a type of wool blend, like the kind they would have used to cloth peasants in the day.. thick weave very nubby.....

I got a question...Is it more important to pull of an exact replica of an existing costume, that my be uncomfortable or too heavy when using the exact materials?

Shall we make the younglings thread the "official" halton costuming thread?

if so then Amber, i just thought of something, i am trying to get raw silk to make a fancy Jedi robe to wear over my "party dress" when we go to the symphony, you want one too?

also our school cloaks will need DEEP pockets, so the wands can go inside!

the amount of effort it takes to make a weasley sweater is way more than making a wand, and an "A" is hard to knit in, and it would have to be a capital A no lower case :p

walmart has some really nice raw silk for making jedi tunics with, $8 a metre

ah, I have a LOT of silk noil that I got at Fabricland for $4/m. I'm hoping that I can get some people to ask me to make Jedi tunics, so I can recover my costs for buying it.

The Nox planet was designated P3C-117 by Stargate Command...

    Race name: Nox
Nox is the Latin word for night. It was also the Roman name for the Greek "goddess" (really more of a primal force) Nyx. She was the mother of all things dark, hidden, and unknown. Oddly enough, she also gave birth to Day, Light, and Love.

Jack: So Shak'l thinks we're unarmed, Apophis thinks he's invulnerable..
Daniel: And they're right.. I think I've detected the flaw in your plan.
