I've been working this afternoon to catch up on what we did with Mary and Em's robes last night. And I've been trying out "finishing" the seams. Actually, they're not as hard as I thought that they would be--just time consuming. ;)

I will want both of you to actually do the rolled finished seams for this one, since you will be able to see these. ;) And I think I found a more reliable way of rolling and pinning them so that we avoid all the problems that Emily and I were having last night.

Now I only have to get the other side done. :p

Work out...no question, I'm supposed to do cardio that day (30 mins) and we can get back and work on jedi robes!

Any time. It was fun. :D

Yeah. I love that my robe, although not done, is at least in one piece now. :D

Sounds like you're both in the home stretch or maybe right at the really hard part.

Now if we can just come up with a way to patch that hole in the middle of my robe so I can finish it too.

Kim, since you'll see Caroline before I do...can we schedule a time where we can have another group costuming get-together?

    Here's the days I'm free:
    Tuesday 4/6 (evening)
Saturday 4/17 (day before B4KS...tough squeeze, I know)
    Tuesday 4/20 and 4/27 (evening)

Other then that...I need to do some wheeling and dealing with the guys at work. Just let me know when you 2 are free, and I can work something out.

I can do any of those times--other than this Tues. I have an all-day conference I'm going to the next day and want to be awake. ;)

I'll have to check on availability of Caroline.

And I found material this weekend for my Padme outfit! :D Excellent! And a pattern to help give me some more guidance for the Mara costume. :D

I was finally able to check more stores for my robe fabric but :( still didn't find the right one. I found a material I liked but it was the wrong color. I found the right color but it was the wrong material. Even my sister was hunting around for me! I'm so lucky to have her for a sister. :D

Does anyone have any pics of their lightsabers? Did you all make them or did anyone buy one already made?

Here's mine, an electrum lightsaber I made myself. (assuming that the link works correctly):

I designed mine and had it made by Random Sabers.
Ryan at that company is really easy to work with and very nice.
    Here's my saber:

Right now, all I have is my Qui-Gon electronic lightsaber (TPM) nicknamed "Wynonna" (it's a Farscape thing) without the blade...which is mixed with parts from the new "jedi lightsaber" styles for fighting.

Eventually, I want to get a saber from the place where Kim got hers.

That's an awesome design Jade! How long did it take them to finish the saber and get it to you (and if I may be so bold as to ask how much it cost to make)? Is it an EL blade (or plasma, none of the above)? Is the blade detachable?

The blade is acrylic and detachable, although I haven't had the guts to take it out yet [face_blush]

It cost (S&H and blade and all) about $100.
It isn't EL. But he now states that he can make the hilts for EL. I'm sure that's more expensive, though. ;)

I can't remember exactly how long it took. He had a family emergency and it was delayed about a week. But he seems really enthusiastic and is a very good communicator by e-mail. I highly recommend Random Sabers. :D

Thanks for the tip. I've already ordered a saber from Parks but if the guy from RS can make my saber for a reasonable price then I might go with him.

Yeah. Parks has some great stuff. [face_love]
I'd love to have one of those, but this route was a bit more affordable.

BTW--Caroline said that we could do some costuming with her next Saturday (day before Bowl 4 Kids). Day or evening might depend a bit on the weather, though.
That works for me, although I might have to work a bit in the morning. ;)

If its after dinner next Sat I could make it but not during the day.

Does Caroline have any suggestions about what I can do about the hole? I'm trying to think ahead in case I need to buy anything before coming over.

I told her about it. I don't know if she's come up with any ideas, though.

Sounds good to me, I'll check on Em's schedule (work) and we'll figure out when to head down...mid-afternoon/early evening seems to work best (more time and keeps the parents happy)
